A popular Hallmark star is headed back to her soap opera roots for quick visits in the coming days. Alison Sweeney is returning to “Days of Our Lives” for a brief appearance over the coming week, according to Soap Opera Digest on April 7.
Alison Sweeney Confirmed Her Episode Airs on April 10
Soap Opera Digest highlighted the return via their April 7 Comings and Goings breakdown. Sweeney had previously teased her visits to film new scenes for “Days of Our Lives.”
As Soap Opera Digest noted, Sweeney last appeared in Salem on “Days of Our Lives” during the summer of 2022. In this return, she arrives in town to check on her former husband EJ (now played by Dan Feuerriegel).
While Sami is back in Salem, she will also spend time with her sister Belle and son Johnny. Carson Boatman plays Johnny, and he told the media outlet, “I think those came out great. I love working with Ali.”
Boatman also teased, “These scenes are very emotional.”
On April 4, Sweeney confirmed her new scenes were finally about to air. In an Instagram post, she wrote, “Excited to share the news that I’ll be back in Salem next week! April 10th.”
She added, “Thanks @dayspeacock for always welcoming me home with open arms.” Martha Madison, who plays Belle, commented with emojis to show her excitement. Fans were thrilled as well.
One fan commented, “Oh Hurricane Sami is back! This is going to be so good!”
The Hallmark Star Has Additional ‘Days of Our Lives’ Appearances on the Horizon
In August 2024, Sweeney was back on the “Days of Our Lives” set to film her upcoming scenes. The Instagram page for the show posted a photo showing her standing by her dressing room and stated, “Sami is back in Salem?!?!?”
On April 4, Sweeney shared some teasers about her “Days of Our Lives” return with TV Insider. She admitted the storyline “definitely caught me off guard,” but she “likes the idea.”
Sami’s return to Salem comes after EJ was shot and hospitalized in a coma. Sami heads straight to the hospital, where she finds her sister, Belle.
“Sami had been told that there was something between Belle and EJ. She’s not surprised, but she’s upset and immediately looking to cause friction,” Sweeney teased.
During a moment alone, Sami admits to a comatose EJ that she has “underlying feelings” for him. Sweeney explains, “She wants him to fight through, she wants him to be OK. She doesn’t want this to be how it ends.”
Johnny comes upon Sami while she’s with EJ, and the encounter leaves him stunned.
During her brief return, Sami will also cross paths with her ex-husband Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering), as well as Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel).
Sweeney will be back again when “Days of Our Lives” airs a memorial for John Black, after actor Drake Hogestyn’s death, as well as the show’s upcoming 60th anniversary.
