Two of Hallmark’s biggest stars have revealed they don’t really know when their popular mystery franchises will return. In late April 2025, Alison Sweeney and Nikki DeLoach replied separately in their Instagram Stories to fans who’ve been eager for news on their next mystery movies, and both actresses said nothing’s set in stone for either franchise.
Sweeney’s been starring as a crime-solving bakery owner in “The Hannah Swensen Mysteries” (originally called “Murder, She Baked”) since 2015. Meanwhile, DeLoach’s “Curious Caterer” franchise, in which she stars as clever caterer Goldy, has been a hit with sleuthers since the movies debuted in 2022.
Nikki DeLoach Says She Hopes ‘Curious Caterer’ Will Be Back

On April 24, DeLoach re-shared a funny meme of DeLoach in a scene with actress Jaycie Dotin and put a “censored” banner across her mouth. The creator of the meme wrote, “Looking at the upcoming mystery schedule, and not seeing any Curious Caterers, despite knowing they finished a couple.”
DeLoach shared that in her Instagram Stories and added, “Aww thank you for the love! We love you, too. We actually have not filmed any new Curious Caterers, unfortunately. Hoping we can get to do some soon. ❤️”
In December, DeLoach’s “Curious Caterer” co-star, Andrew Walker, told Soaps.com, “We were supposed to shoot a couple of them in the new year, January and February, but they’ve been pushed back to mid-year.”
A week later, on December 27, DeLoach posted a thank you note to fans who watched the two “Curious Caterer” movies that premiered in 2024, writing, “We were blown away by your love of Curious Caterer and your desire and requests for more and more. It is such a joy to bring these movies to life for you and we hope we can continue to do so.”
DeLoach did spend time filming another mystery franchise in early 2025 — two new “True Justice” mysteries she co-wrote. The premieres of those movies — which also feature Kat McNamara, Markian Tarasiuk, and Benjamin Ayres — have not yet been announced.
There May Be 2 New ‘Hannah Swensen’ Mysteries Coming Soon

Meanwhile, Sweeney also told a fan on April 24, as she conducted a Q&A with fans in her Instagram Stories, that she’s hoping for more of her popular mystery franchise.
When someone wrote that they’re a big fan of her “Hannah Swensen Mysteries,” Sweeney replied in a video, “Thank you, I’m so glad you love ‘Hannah Swensen.’ I love playing Hannah. So, hope there’s more of that to come, so, um, yeah.”
The good news is that two “Hannah Swensen” movies were filmed in late 2024. According to the Film & TV Industry Alliance, “A Pie to Die For” filmed in Vancouver beginning on October 31, while a second movie with the working title “Cooked to Death” was scheduled to start filming a month later, on November 30.
For many years, Hallmark alum Cameron Mathison co-starred with Sweeney in the franchise. But after he left the network for Great American Family in late 2023, it was announced in early 2024 that Victor Webster — Sweeney’s co-star in Hallmark’s “Wedding Veil” movies in 2022 and 2023 — would effectively replace him, although he’d be playing a new character.
Webster has since appeared in three “Hannah Swensen Mysteries” — “One Bad Apple” and “A Sprinkle of Deceit” in 2024 and “Reality Bites” in early 2025. While Sweeney’s fans await word on when the new movies will see the light of day, they can look forward to seeing her opposite Ashley Williams in two new movies shot in Spain, with at least one premiering in June.
