Alison Sweeney Reveals Her Tricks That Keep Fans Coming Back for More

Hallmark star Alison Sweeney wants to keep viewers engaged as they watch each new movie the network debuts, and she’s doing what she can to make that happen.

Recently, Sweeney talked with Cinema Blend and shared her perspective on elevating Hallmark projects to be more than a predictable, formulaic storyline. She has taken on additional duties with some of her recent projects, and she’s taking her responsibilities seriously.

Alison Sweeney Doesn’t Want Viewers to Be Bored

On February 27, Cinema Blend shared tidbits from Sweeney about her approach to keeping things fresh on Hallmark. As the media outlet noted, Sweeney has not only starred in the past couple of “Hannah Swensen Mystery” films, but she also wrote them.

Sweeney told Cinema Blend she does what she can to “mix it up” so that the movies deliver something fresh to the audience. She explained, “It just never feels tired or repetitive. I really look forward to it every time” that she works on a new installment of the fan-favorite series.

“As we’re developing the mysteries and the stories, I feel the same way as I imagine an audience feels, you know? They don’t want to be bored,” Sweeney explained.

She continued, “They don’t want to feel like they totally know how it’s gonna go.” Knowing that, Sweeney shared, she does “anything I can do to mix it up or change things around or find a new way into the mystery.”

The Hallmark Star Believes Viewers Want More Than Just Story Clues

“Leaning into the romance, I think, helps a lot,” Sweeney noted. She added that she also builds up the family dynamic, “So that the audience really has something that they can enjoy apart and separate from solving the mystery.”

While the clues are important to the “Hannah Swensen Mystery” experience, Sweeney believes viewers need more layers to the storyline. “It’s not just about the clues, even though that’s so important and there’s a lot to explain,” she noted.

She added, “If I can move the relationships forward or not, or back, and cause some personal drama there too, that’s always really satisfying.”

What she’s doing certainly seems to be working. In February, when Sweeney teased the newest movie’s debut on Instagram, her followers gushed about their love for the series.
