They’re the goofy girlfriend duo we didn’t know we needed! Hallmark stars and real-life friends Alison Sweeney and Ashley Williams have shared behind-the-scenes peeks on social media at all the fun they’ve been having while filming two movies together in Spain for nearly two months.
On March 21, 2025, fans were especially tickled to see the actresses take their goofiness to a new level, as they hilariously attempted an online dance trend.
Sweeney joked in her caption, “It’s hard to have fun when you’re busy being super professional. 😝 Good thing this isn’t a movie about dancing! We gotta stay silly, take cardio breaks, and keep our Spanish crew laughing. Only way to go!”
Fans Adored Seeing Alison Sweeney & Ashley Williams Dancing to ‘APT.’
In the video Sweeney shared, the two actresses attempt a viral dance trend choreographed to the fall 2024 smash hit “APT.” by ROSÉ and Bruno Mars.
The two music stars originated the dance moves in their music video for the song, and countless fans have since created online videos with their own renditions. ROSÉ even taught Kelly Clarkson a couple of the moves while appearing on her talk show in January.
Sweeney and Williams filmed their attempt at the viral dance trend in front of a picturesque Spanish setting. Their Hallmark production spent several weeks in Barcelona before moving in early March to Bilbao, according to director Ron Oliver’s Instagram updates.
Though the two stars didn’t quite stay in sync with each other during their dance, that made their video all the more funny and endearing to fans, who flooded the comment section with their reactions.
One joked, “you two ok???😂😂😂” and Williams replied, “Define ok.”
Someone else commented, “You girls are so silly and that’s just what we need in this world right now, fun, dancing , laughing . I love you both 💙💙💙🦋🦋🦋”
Another fan wrote, “I’m 100% convinced that when @ashleywilliamsandcompany is around you’re going to have a good time with lots of laughter!!! 🤗🤗🤗”
Alison Sweeney & Ashley Williams’ New Movies Have Been in the Works For Years
Longtime friends, Williams and Sweeney announced in late January that they were teaming up for two movies to be filmed in Spain after years of “dying to find something for us to work on together,” Williams told EntertainmentNOW at the time. In addition to starring as best friends, they’re also producing the “Barcelona, Mi Amor” movies together.
The films were written by Julie Sherman Wolfe, the mastermind behind some of Hallmark’s most elaborate movies, from 2022’s “A Holiday Spectacular” to 2024’s “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story.” Oliver, meanwhile, has directed more than 20 Hallmark movies, including “The Groomsmen” trilogy with Tyler Hynes, Jonathan Bennett, and B.J. Britt.
Williams told EntertainmentNOW that three years ago at a Hallmark event, she “pitched this idea to Julie Sherman Wolfe late at night in a bar. Right then Ali walked by and I roped her into playing opposite me in the movie. It’s a dream come true.”
Before they headed to Spain in February, Williams said she was having a blast preparing for the shoot with Sweeney, explaining, “She’s just as hands on as I am, which is refreshing. We are talking half a dozen times a day — brainstorming, troubleshooting, running things by each other. She already feels like my work wife.”
“We laugh all day long,” she added. “I’m so happy. I can’t wait to do all of this with a table full of Tapas in front of us!”
