Bobby Flay Playfully Calls Out Jon Hamm’s Wife

Celebrity chef Bobby Flay says hosting a Fourth of July barbecue at his home is one of the rare chances he gets to enjoy someone else’s cooking — seemingly because guests are too intimidated to cook for him.

Anna Osceola’s Sweet Surprise

During his July 18 appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” the Food Network star revealed that Jon Hamm’s wife, Anna Osceola, broke the unspoken rule by bringing a homemade sour cherry crisp — a dessert that earned high praise from Flay.

“I just had a bunch of people over my house for July 4th weekend,” Flay said, to which Fallon playfully interrupted, “I didn’t get the email.” Flay laughed and replied that actor Jon Hamm had taken Fallon’s seat at the table.

“But I don’t want to talk about him, I want to talk about his wife, Anna [Osceola]. She’s amazing,” Flay said. “Whenever she comes over, she always brings dessert. So she made this sour cherry crisp for everybody, it was absolutely spectacular. But she was the only one that brought food. Everyone else is like, ‘Feed me, Bobby. Let’s go.’”

Fallon noted that many likely “feel pressure” to cook for a world-renowned chef, to which Flay replied, “They shouldn’t, I’m just like everybody else.”

“People don’t want to cook for me, so I have to invite all of my friends over to my house,” he jokingly added.

The Celebrity Chef’s Backyard BBQ Confession

When asked if he would personally cook for the award-winning chef, Fallon quickly replied, “I would totally cook for you.” After a brief pause, he added with a laugh, “A hamburger.”

That mention of burgers prompted Flay to share some grilling advice, noting, “You want to flip [a hamburger] one time.” He warned viewers against constant flipping, which, he said, is a hallmark of amateur grillers. “You want the grill to do its job. Get it nice and crusty, just let it flip once.”

The “BBQ Brawl” star also poked fun at seasonal grillers who go overboard with the performance.

“The same guys who say they can grill, they don’t cook all year long, but as soon as it’s grilling season, they’re like, ‘We got this,’ and they put on the hat and the toolbelt and the whole thing,” Flay said. “And they go out to the grill, and they’re like, ‘I got this,’ but they have to be grilling, so they flip and turn, flip and turn, flip and turn, and that’s how you get greyed, grilled food.”
