The report says the information came from the 911 caller who alerted first responders to the emergency after discovering Burrell unresponsive. A rep for the New York City Fire Department said the caller told them the chef “went into cardiac arrest” and was “dead on arrival,” per the report.
The outlet says a rep for Burrell did not respond to their request for comment on the story.
While cardiac arrest was alleged in the 911 call, the official cause of death has yet to be officially determined or publicly announced.
Friend of Anne Burrell Called Death ‘Senseless Tragedy’
While the events that transpired are still a mystery, one friend of the chef has revealed a potential hint about what happened to Anne Burrell. Chef Andrew Zimmern, another Food Network star, commented on a tribute posted by the network’s Instagram page, “Horrific and senseless tragedy. Nothing but love.”
He also posted a tribute of his own to the fiery blonde. He shared a picture of himself and Burrell sitting side by side, declaring that he chooses to remember people “happy and laughing and believing that anything in life is possible.”
After wishing love “to her family, friends, and fans,” the Zimmern went on to leave another cryptic clue. “An unnecessary loss is just the hardest to handle and this one really hurts. Nothing but love for all right now, especially Anne,” he wrote.
