Brian Austin Green thinks Sharna Burgess deserves to be a judge on the U.S. version of “Dancing With the Stars.”
In a video posted to Instagram days after the 33rd season ended, the DWTS season 30 alum looked back on a “super entertaining season” that featured the return of his fiancée as a dancer for a special segment to celebrate the show’s 500th episode.
“Super entertaining season. A lot of great people working really hard,” Green said. “I love that [executive producer] Conrad [Green] is back and the show is getting back to what worked in the first place. I think he and [casting director/producer] Deena Katz are doing an incredible job.”
He added, “I am biased. I think Sharna would be a fantastic judge next season, I know it’s been talked about online a little bit …She is amazing at dance. It’s a world that she knows, it’s a world that she grew up in and one that she loves. And she takes it very seriously. I don’t know logistically how that works with the other judges that are there, what they would do to possibly make that happen, but I think it’s something they should definitely consider.”
The 33rd season of DWTS featured longtime judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli.
Fans Want to See Sharna Return as a Dancer
Burgess says not been a pro dancer on “Dancing With the Stars” for several years. She was cast as a judge on “Dancing With the Stars: Australia” multiple times since 2019, per Entertainment Tonight. She told the outlet that all of her “years of being a DWTS pro and having the three best judges ever as examples” well prepared her for the role.
In 2024, Burgess marked her fourth season as a DWTS Australia judge, this time alongside Craig Revel Horwood, Helen Richey, and Mark Wilson, it was announced on Instagram.
After Green made his video post, several fans commented to agree that Burgess should be a judge on the U.S. show. Some suggested she replace Inaba.
But many others insisted they wanted to see Burgess back as a dancer. “She should be back as a PRO. She is still in her prime!” one fan wrote. “A dancer’s life is short enough. Leave the judging to the elders/retirees with the wisdom.”
“I would love to see you dance again. You are too talented to sit behind that desk. You’re an amazing dance teacher and partner. Hope you are returning next season. ❤️,” another wrote to Burgess.
“I hope DWTS will bring you back as a pro next season. You would make an incredible judge, but I miss watching you dance on DWTS. 💃,” another fan chimed in.
DWTS Producers Have No Plans to Add a 4th Judge
Bringing Burgess as a judge would be a big change. After veteran head judge Len Goodman passed away in April 2023, Conrad Green told Entertainment Weekly there was no plan to replace him at the judges’ table.
“I’ve always felt Len is irreplaceable,” Green told EW. “He’s such an important part of the history of the show and such an important part of the reason the show is successful [with] his honesty, his specialist ballroom knowledge, and him coming genuinely from that world. His legacy of what he’s brought to the show is amazing. It was never in my mind to replace him.”
Instead, three guest judges were brought in during season 33, including beloved pro dancer Mark Ballas.
