“Dancing With the Stars” co-host Julianne Hough is finally clearing up a dating rumor that has been floating around since she was a pro on the show. Find out whether Hough and her season 4 partner Apolo Ohno dated back in the day.
Julianne Hough Sheds Light on Old Dating Rumor
During a June 20 interview with Owen Thiele on the “In Your Dreams” podcast, Hough addressed whether or not she and Ohno dated.
“I remember being on the show and it was like a whole new universe,” she recalled.
“There’s the whole thing where everybody finds love on the show or they just hook up or whatever,” Hough continued. “Everybody thought I was hooking up with my partner Apolo.”
She confirmed, “Never in a million years.”
There’s a good reason why a showmance was never in the cards for Hough — she took the job very seriously.
“I was so mature as a kid,” she explained. “I was like, ‘Nope, I have a job to do. This is what I do …'”
Hough and Apolo won season 4 of “DWTS” in 2007.
During a November 2024 episode of “Dancing With the Stars,” Hough confirmed she wasn’t in a relationship. Following her performance to “Man in Finance,” she said, “Well, you know, I am single and I’m looking for a guy anywhere I can find one.”
Her co-host, Alfonso Ribeiro, joked, “If you’d like a date, text Julianne’s first name. Message and data rates may apply.”
She responded with a laugh, “That won’t work, please don’t do that.”

With her varied experience on the show as a pro, a judge, and a co-host, Hough has a great deal of wisdom about what it takes to win “Dancing With the Stars.”
In a June 2025 interview with Well+Good, she shared, “My advice (for celebrity contestants) never really changes.”
Hough continued, “If you can commit full out and put yourself in a vulnerable situation, knowing that the show is there to highlight you and encourage you, all people want to do is get to know you and get to see you.”
The “DWTS” co-host added, “The more authentic, the more real, the more vulnerable you can be and share the journey the better, because that’s all people really want: They want to go on that journey and see themselves in you.”
