DWTS Pro Julianne Hough Celebrates an Exciting Dance Milestone

Julianne Hough has proven her skills as a dancer on “Dancing With the Stars,” which gave her a platform to share her talents with the world. However, fans will see her in a different role as she takes on the title of tour director of Ovation.

Ovation is the company she founded with her brother Derek Hough (who will also serve as tour director) and DanceOne. To promote the tour, Julianne shared an Instagram video of herself explaining the goal of her latest role. “Ovation is a convention and competition where we are bridging the two worlds to create one premier epic experience,” she says in the clip. She also discusses how those involved can “play, learn, and compete.”

Julianne Hough Co-Founded Dance Competition Ovation

The brother and sister duo started Ovation to “be able to give back, to elevate dance,” Julianne explains, and to allow the next generation of dancers to showcase their skills. The caption on the video also provides more information about the partnership and what she brings to it. “An Emmy Award-winning choreographer, a trailblazing career in dance and entertainment, and a heart for mentorship, Julianne is more passionate about guiding the future of competitive dance than ever,” the caption on Instagram reads. “This is where preparation meets opportunity.”

Fans have commented on the video to express their excitement about the opportunity. Questions have been raised about whether Ovation is “beginner-friendly,” and others have praised Julianne for being an inspiration.

Derek also shared the news with fans with a video dedicated to his skills. “With 4 Emmys, 6 Mirrorball Trophies, and a lifetime dedicated to the artistry of dance,” the caption on his Instagram post reads. “He’s bringing his passion and expertise to the convention space. Derek is fired up to be in the room, not just to lead, but to serve, connect, and celebrate every dancer’s journey.”

The Ovation Dance Convention Hopes To Connect Dancers

The 2025/2026 tour dates begin in Chicago on December 5, and Nationals will be held in San Diego from June 13 to June 20. According to the Ovation website, other artists who will be part of the collaborative effort include “Dancing With the Stars” alums Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson, who will be program directors, and Talia Flavia as artistic director.

According to the Ovation website, this venture will offer something new: “a groundbreaking, first-of-its-kind dance experience that’s changing the game.” Multiple dance genres and classes will be available for all ages and skill levels, starting from Mini (for 10 years old and under) and the open category for 19 years old and over.

Different divisions are listed, including solos, duos, and larger groups. The convention’s versatility is among the reasons why it will appeal to so many. Ovation is ultimately a dance competition and an opportunity for dancers to learn. As the website states, “Our dance classes aren’t just classes — they’re a launchpad for growth, expression, and transformation.”

With dancing legends involved, it’s not surprising that Ovation is generating interest!
