JoJo Siwa is opening up about her relationship with her boyfriend Chris Hughes. “He’s the brightest light in my life,” she shared on an episode of “Loose Women.” “He’s the thing that makes me the happiest.”
The couple, who met while filming “Celebrity Big Brother UK” during the spring, initially insisted they were just friends amid speculation about their relationship. In June, Siwa confirmed they were in fact dating in an interview with The Guardian.
“It’s not platonic any more, and it’s been a beautiful development, a beautiful connection, and I’m absolutely head over heels for him and he’s the same way,” the “Dancing With the Stars” alum revealed.
JoJo Siwa’s Family Loves Her New Man Too
According to Siwa, her family is just as crazy about Hughes as she is. “My mom absolutely adores him,” she said during her appearance on “Loose Women.” She added, “My dad and him are best friends. My brother just asked him to be a groomsman in his wedding.”
Siwa looked flushed and happy as she explained, “My family has never has never has has never loved somebody like this like ever.”
And Siwa recently introduced Hughes to her old pal “Dance Moms” star Abby Lee Miller. Miller, who lent her voice to Siwa’s latest single “Raspy,” was doing press in Florida at the same time as the couple so Siwa got to show off her guy.
“She obviously loved him, what’s not to love about him?” the reality star shared. She said the feeling was mutual and Hughes “obviously” loved Miller as well.
JoJo Siwa Addressed Criticism of Her ‘Bette Davis Eyes’ Cover
In July, Siwa released her version of the 1981 Kim Carnes hit “Bette Davis Eyes.” Siwa’s cover was met with criticism, even by Carnes herself who told TMZ, “The phrasing, the tone, even the little inflections—it all felt a bit too close.”
Other critiques involved Siwa’s voice, which she says people thought was “so raspy.” That recurring comment inspired Siwa’s latest single “Raspy,” which she says she wrote “as a response to some things that people have said.”
“No matter what I’ve done in the last, give or take 13 years, people have always said something,” Siwa explained. “I’ve always kind of been a punching bag for the internet.”
But she tries not to let the haters get to her. “It hits for a second then it moves past,” she said of negative comments.
