Over the past couple of years, “Dancing With the Stars” cast member Mark Ballas has been keeping his hair long. While a lot of people like Ballas’ new look, others have encouraged him to cut his hair short, a recommendation that he tends to not take too kindly to.
On January 1, Ballas uploaded a dance video that he recorded with Val Chmerkovskiy. In it, the guys do a synced routine, trying out the popular TikTok dance, “Go Crazy.” Ballas wore a backwards hat and let his highlighted curls flow down past his shoulders.
One of the top comments on the post is from none other that Derek Hough, who is one of Ballas’ best friends.
“Mark cut your hair,” Hough wrote in the comments section of the post. Clearly joking, Hough seemed to be teasing Ballas over the countless Instagram comments he’s received about his long hair.
Chmerkovskiy also jumped in on the joke, posting his own comment about Ballas’ hair.
“Guhhh when’s @markballas gonna cut his hair,” he said, adding a crying with laughter emoji. Hough commented on that post, saying that Ballas looked like a “poodle.”
Many Fans Weighed in on Mark Ballas’ Long Hair
While Hough and Chmerkovskiy were yukking it up in the comments section of Ballas’ Instagram post, other fans weighed in on Ballas’ long hair.
“Just can’t get used to Marks long hair,” one person wrote.
“I’m sorry but I like Mark but not his hair,” someone else said.
“I loveeeeeeeee Marks long hair,” a third Instagram user added.
“I’m so confused why so many people care so much about Marks hair. I hope he grows it to his booty to spite you all lol,” a fourth comment read.
Mark Ballas Has No Plans to Cut His Long Hair
Ballas is beyond used to reading comments about his long hair, and he’s responded to plenty.
During a Q&A on his Instagram Stories in September 2022, for example, a fan wrote, “get haircut?” Ballas had the perfect response. He simply posted the song “Hell to the Naw Naw” by Bishop Bullwinkle.
In October 2024, Ballas posted a curly hair tutorial on Instagram. Plenty of people let him know exactly how they felt about his hair and he had some fun for himself in the comments.
“Cut your hair Mark, your so handsome with the short hair,” one person wrote, to which Ballas replied, “no.” In fact, Ballas replied to several comments telling him to cut his hair, replying the same way.
