Season 31 “Dancing With the Stars” champ Charli D’Amelio suffered an injury after making her Broadway debut in “& Juliet.”
“The thing that covers the stage came down and hit her on the head, and poor girl was knocked out,” one fan said on TikTok, sharing a video of the accident. “They paused the show for about five minutes and then she was back on and dancing. She had a mark on her head and everything,” the person added.
A source told Page Six that D’Amelio checked in with a medic and felt well enough to return to work.
D’Amelio joined the production in October 2024 and plays the role of Charmian.
Fans Have Been Excited to See Charli D’Amelio Land a Broadway Gig
After D’Amelio’s role in “& Juliet” was confirmed, a few fans took to Reddit to react. Overall, people were excited to see D’Amelio on stage.
“I don’t know much about her but I hear she is a solid dancer. I’m glad to see someone stunt cast into a role that is appropriate for their strengths instead of something that they are going to vocally struggle through! I hope she gets butts in seats and keeps the show running and the cast and crew employed,” one person wrote.
“I know people love to be mean about Tik Tok influencers but in Charli’s case, she is a classically-trained dancer so she is more than capable of being on Broadway and I’m sure she’ll do great and fit right in,” someone else added about D’Amelio.
“Good for her. I’m sure she’ll do a great job and maybe her being there will bring a new audience and help the show keep running for longer,” a third comment read.
“I think it’s actually really smart casting. She’s a trained dancer in a dance heavy ensemble role in the show. Is it stunt casting? Sure, but that doesn’t make it bad. If it gets butts in seats and doesn’t affect the integrity of the show (I’m looking at you, Cameron Dallas in Mean Girls), I don’t see any issue, especially if part of the goal is to maintain the longevity of the show,” a fourth Redditor said.
Charli D’Amelio Called Her Broadway Gig a ‘Dream Come True’
D’Amelio rose to fame on TikTok, but she’s excelled in just about everything she has done. After winning “Dancing With the Stars” alongside pro Mark Ballas, the opportunities have continued to roll in for the reality TV star.
Landing a role on Broadway was just extra special for her.
“To be able to make my Broadway debut – especially in the cast of ‘& Juliet’ — is truly a dream come true, and I can’t wait to share this experience with everyone,” D’Amelio said in a statement shared by Variety in September 2024.
