Cameron Mathison gave fans a closer look at the Pacific Palisades home he lost to the California wildfires.
On January 17, the “Dancing with the Stars” season 5 alum uploaded before and after photos and videos to Instagram as he continued to process the tragic loss. The actor also sent out support to all of the other victims of the fires that have devastated Los Angeles County.
“Having trouble sleeping these days so scrolling through some of the photos of before and after💔 The first two videos are about a week apart,” Mathison, 55, captioned his post. “My heart goes out to the thousands of families whose home and lifetime of memories have also been destroyed.”
Cameron Mathison’s Before & After Videos Sparked a Big Reaction From Fans & Friends
Mathison’s video started with a look at an outdoor courtyard with a fountain. Boxwoods were decorated with white lights in the clip, which was shot at Christmastime just before the fires. A lit Christmas tree could also be seen through a window into the house. The next shot showed the same patio area with just the fountain and brick pavers remaining amid the aftermath of the fire.
Mathison also shared a photo of the outside of his house and then another of the same angle after the fire. He also posted “before” photos of his beautifully decorated living room and other interior photos, as well as a shot of him and his daughter in the pool, with the house and its epic chimney in full view. The next photo showed just the brick of the chimney remaining in the rubble.
Mathison also posted a video that panned the charred remains of his family home. Another photo showed Mathison putting Christmas lights on a tree outside the house, with the next shot of just the tree—with no house remaining behind it. The last photo showed the broken gate in front of Mathison’s beloved property.
Fans and friends reacted in the comment section.
“Wow! Your Home looks like a Hallmark Movie,” one fan wrote of the Christmasy “before” photos. “Sending Prayers to all affected, the commenter added.
“This is simply beyond words,” another commenter wrote. “It genuinely brought a smile to my face to see your home all beautifully decorated for Christmas…and now you must endure this devastating loss of your beloved home. …Thank you for sharing this, we are here for you.”
“Can only imagine how heavy it must feel to look through those photos and videos. 💔 Thank you for sharing them—it’s a powerful reminder of the immense loss so many are facing,” a third follower wrote.
Cameron Mathison Was Only Able to Save a Few Things From His House
Mathison first broke the heartbreaking news about his home via an Instagram Reel on January 8. The outdoor fountain was the centerpiece of the video as he showed fans what was left of his family home. Flames were still visibly burning in the distance in Mathison’s first video.
“We are safe. But this is what’s left of our beautiful home,” the actor wrote. “Our home where our kids were raised and where they wanted to raise their own someday.”
Mathison told TMZ he had been living in the home alone amid his separation from his wife Vanessa Arevalo. Mathison’s two kids, Lucas and Leila, attend school in Europe.
In an interview with “Good Morning America” on January 9, Mathison revealed that he lost “everything” he owned in the fire. “I have this hoodie and a pair of pants and two pairs of sneakers left. That’s it,” he said.
Mathison later told Entertainment Tonight that he was able to grab birth certificates, passports, and a few photo albums. He admitted he didn’t really think he would lose everything else. “I unfortunately left some valuable ones where the kids were very, very young and film that you can’t replace,” he said. “If I really thought the house was going down, I would’ve grabbed so much more.”
