Zach Top & Alan Jackson Keep Funny Father/Son Rumors Rolling

When you’ve been in the country music business as long as Alan Jackson, you’re bound to be the subject of a rumor or two. As the iconic singer winds down his “Last Call” farewell tour, a funny conspiracy theory from earlier this year has grown new legs. Jackson’s touring companion, Zach Top, posted an Instagram photo that revived claims that the duo are actually father and son.

Fans took the new photo and ran with it, flooding the comments section with lighthearted jokes about the singers being related. “Great father and son picture!!” one fan wrote. “Love seeing a father and son tour together,” another said. Many simply responded to the post with funny dad-related memes.

A Country Radio Host Put The (Theoretical) Pieces Together

The photo Top chose for his post does show a resemblance between the singers, the rumors go deeper than that. The theory that Jackson and Top are related got its start when Docc Andrews, a radio host for 93.7 JRCountry, laid out some details that, in his estimation, suggested that Top could be Jackson’s long-lost son.

In a video clip of the segment, Andrews explains that nine months before Top’s birthday, Jackson played a show in Top’s home state. He then overlaid a photo of Jackson from his mid-20s with a photo of Top now, showing just how similar the two really look. The evidence was thin at best, but some fans in the video’s comments section said they were on board. “My new favorite unhinged conspiracy theory,” one joked.

Zach Top Gave a Hilarious Response to The Initial Rumors

Thanks to Andrews, father/son rumors were already flying before Top went out on tour with Jackson, and he gave a hilarious response to them in an interview with The Rob + Holly Show. In a February 2025 video clip from the interview, Top facetiously faced the rumors head on, pretending to be just as interested in knowing the truth as fans.

“I think the only way I’m gonna get a straight answer is in Forth Worth, when I finally meet him,” Top joked, saying that he would get to the bottom of the situation before the pair’s first show. “I’m just gonna go up and say, ‘Hi daddy, I missed you.'” Whether Top followed through on his proposed joke is unknown, but his response was a great way to handle social media conspiracy theories.
