Willie Nelson Gives an Epic Response to Biopic Questions

Willie Nelson has had an incredibly successful life in country music, and some might even say it’s movie-worthy. However, the legendary singer had his own epic response to a question about a future biopic. As AP reported, Nelson isn’t quite ready to walk down that road.

“I’ve heard some talk about it,” Nelson said of a potential film treatment of his life. “But I’m not through with it yet.” With the 10th annual Outlaw Music Festival well underway and the 40th anniversary of Farm Aid on the horizon, Nelson still has plenty of his life story left to tell.

Nelson and Bob Dylan have been long-term friends and collaborators for Outlaw Music Fest, but they clearly have different opinions on biopics. While Nelson clearly isn’t interested in seeing his life on screen at the moment, a biopic about Dylan’s life hit theaters in 2024. “A Complete Unknown” stars Timothée Chalamet in the lead role and picks up Dylan’s story in the early 1960s.

Dylan took to X to share his thoughts on the film just before its theatrical release. In addition to expressing his opinion that Chalamet would do an excellent job of portraying him, Dylan recommended reading the book that inspired the film. “It’s a fantastic retelling of events from the early ‘60s that led up to the fiasco at Newport,” he said of the book, “Dylan Goes Electric.” “After you’ve seen the movie read the book.”

Farm Aid 40 Promises To Be a Major Event For Nelson

Fans likely won’t get to see a movie about the legendary singer’s life anytime soon, but they can certainly see him in concert this year. Nelson is one of the founding members of Farm Aid, having held the first show alongside John Mellencamp and Neil Diamond back in 1985. The annual concert event benefiting family farmers is always a major highlight for the year, but the 40th anniversary is, of course, a huge milestone.

According to the official Farm Aid website, fans can expect to see the three original performers, but there are plenty of other great acts in the lineup. For example, Dave Matthews, who signed onto the board of directors for the organization in 2001, will play alongside fellow musician Tim Reynolds this year.
