When you’ve been a country music star for as long as Vince Gill has, your relationship to your craft is bound to change. As the singer recently shared with the Chicago Sun Times, one part of being a musician has come to have more meaning over the years: songwriting.
“I think I’m the best I’ve been at writing songs, singing songs and playing songs now,” Gill explained. “…and it all means more now. Every word is important.” The singer also explained his thorough editing process, describing how he reworks a song until he feels it reflects exactly what he wants it to say. He also noted that being aware of his own progress is more important than external validation: “I may be the only one who notices I’m better, but that’s enough for me.”
The Singer Hinted at Upcoming New Music

Gill isn’t just feeling like songwriting has more meaning now; he’s also churning out more songs than ever before. “I’ve written about 150 songs over the past three or four years,” the singer explained to the Chicago Sun Times. This means fans can potentially look forward to plenty of new music from the country star.
However, Gill says there’s one challenge associated with all of this new music: how to put the songs out into the world. “I’m not sure how we’re going to release them,” he explained. “Maybe as one EP a month.” For now, fans will have to wait and wonder while Gill and his team work out the logistics of releasing these songs.
Gill is Touring This Summer, Including a Nashville Residency

In celebration of his five decades in country music, Gill is currently on tour. The tour will take him across the US this summer, with a special five-night residency at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, planned for the beginning of August.
Fans who have enjoyed seeing Gill play as part of The Eagles can catch him back at The Sphere in Las Vegas in September as part of the band’s extended residency. Gill will also appear alongside his bandmates at several more shows in October and November. Then, the singer will close out the year back in Nashville for “Christmas at the Ryman,” a series of shows with his wife, Amy Grant.
