Trisha Yearwood Heads Up Tribute to Legend Linda Ronstadt

Trisha Yearwood is taking time out of promoting her upcoming new album to honor a living legend.

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum announced that Yearwood will headline a tribute to Linda Ronstadt this summer.

The concert is titled “Trisha Yearwood and Friends Celebrate Linda Ronstadt and Los Angeles Country-Rock.” And it comes with a lot of star power in addition to Trisha. It will also feature performances by Rodney Crowell, Emmylou Harris, Patti Scialfa, and James Taylor.

In a press release by CMHOF, Trisha says Ronstadt played a key role in her career. “Linda Ronstadt is a big reason I wanted to be a singer,” said Yearwood. “I’m honored to be a part of celebrating Linda and this incredible era of music that is such an important part of the history of country music.”

Yearwood and the rest of the performers will be singing songs from Ronstadt’s legendary catalog, along with other country-rock classics.

Concert’s Performers All Have Connections to Ronstadt’s Music

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum says the concert will highlight the connections between Ronstadt and Grammy-winning artist and songwriter Rodney Crowell, Country Music Hall of Fame member EmmyLou Harris, and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member James Taylor, who each contributed to the musical movement of LA Country-Rock.

Proceeds from the concert will support the museum’s exhibition “Western Edge: The Roots and Reverberations of Los Angeles Country-Rock.”

The museum says the exhibit “traces communities of visionary singers, songwriters, and musicians who set about reinvigorating the sounds of pop and rock by infusing elements of country, bluegrass, and folk music. Fostered in local nightclubs and late-night jam sessions, the resulting musical fusion, “country-rock,” made a lasting impact on popular music.

The exhibit surveys the rise of the Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Poco, Eagles, Emmylou Harris, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Linda Ronstadt and many others who, in the 1960s and ’70s, found commercial success with new sounds that merged rock & roll rhythms and attitude with country and bluegrass instrumentation and harmonies. As they flourished, so did the Los Angeles-based recording industry.”

July Looks to Be a Big Month for Trisha Yearwood

The tribute concert comes just four days after Trisha Yearwood drops her first studio album in six years.

When she releases her album “The Mirror” on July 18, it will be her first where she co-wrote and co-produced every single track.

During an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” Yearwood said, “I’ve always kind of hidden behind music like ‘this song’s really personal, but I didn’t write it.’ Well, I don’t have, I can’t say that about these songs. So performing some of them made me just really emotional.”

While the album doesn’t drop until July 18, Yearwood has already released two singles from it- “Bringing the Angels” and “The Wall or the Way Over.
