Country music megastar Tim McGraw has one name in mind for his ultimate dream duet! And, no, it’s not who you might expect. Breaking the internet with his answer, McGraw revealed he has his sights set on “The Boss” himself.
“Easy, Bruce Springsteen,” McGraw said in an interview when he was asked who his dream collaborator would be. “I mean, he’s always been one of my heroes and one of my favorite artists, and also one of my favorite people. And if I ever had the chance to sing a song with Bruce Springsteen, I’d do that in a heartbeat.”
It’s a bold pick, but then again, we’re talking about two titans of American music here! Why wouldn’t these megastars do something together? Honestly, we’re pretty shocked they haven’t already teamed up.
‘Paper Umbrellas’ Ft. Parker McCollum
McGraw, the Louisiana-born country star known for hits like “Don’t Take the Girl” and “Humble and Kind,” is no stranger to genre-defying collaborations. He’s sold over 80 million records, has three Grammy Awards, and continues to reinvent himself decades into his growing career. His latest single, “Paper Umbrellas,” features Texas country standout Parker McCollum, which is already generating serious buzz!
Meanwhile, Springsteen, aka “The Boss,” has also built a rock legacy that spans generations. With anthems like “Born to Run,” “Thunder Road,” and “Dancing in the Dark,” Springsteen redifined American rock ‘n’ roll with gritty and powerful lyrics and “working-class spirit.” He’s a 20-time Grammy winner, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and is still packing arenas around the world.
Oh, and let’s not forget his new album, “Tracks II: The Lost Albums,” which is a seven-album box that has a total of 83 unreleased songs! These tracks were reported in a span of over three decades, starting from 1983 to 2018! Yeah, talk about staying busy throughout the years.
A Longtime Mutual Admiration
Though they’ve never shared a studio, McGraw and Springsteen do have history and mutual respect.
Back in 2021, Springsteen joined McGraw on his “Beyond the Influence Radio” show on Apple Music. The singer reminisced about a moment McGraw helped lift his spirits after losing a Grammy in 2003.
“It was the night after we lost the Grammy for “The Rising,” and I came into the dressing room and everybody was kind of down in the mouth,” Springsteen recalled. “And you said, ‘Hey, what’s the matter, man? You’re Bruce Springsteen.” That simple sentence stuck with him.
“That took me up. It was kind of a great moment,” he said. “And I’ve always remembered that when I think of you.”
Cue the tears! That’s the kind of friendship that transcends charts and major accolades. These two clearly share more than just mutual admiration; they share an understanding of what it means to show up, on and off stage.
Big Years, Bigger Dreams
2025 has been a year of major moves for both artists. McGraw is riding high off the release of “Paper Umbrellas” and is gearing up for his duet with Barbra Streisand on her June 27 album, “The Secret of Life: Partners Volume Two.” The song, titled “I Love Us,” puts McGraw in the company of an elite musician, showing how wide his musical range truly is.
As for Springsteen, a new biopic is officially coming to theaters this year. The film will explore the early days of the New Jersey native’s career, chronicling his rise to fame and tight bond with the E Street Band. “The Bear” star, Jeremy Allen White, will portray the rock legend. That film alone has sparked massive buzz, and maybe, just maybe, it’ll reignite talks of Springsteen stepping into the booth with McGraw.
Because let’s face it, a collaboration between these two would be the stuff Americana dreams are made of. Until then, we’ll keep that lyric sheet ready, just in case.
