Sam Hunt Talks Fatherhood and Makes a Career Announcement

Fans don’t hear quite as much from Sam Hunt as they once did, but as the country music star told Celeb Secrets that his future in music is still bright. While it may appear that the singer has hung up his guitar for the long haul, he says that isn’t the case. Although he’s more focused on fatherhood these days, he’s not planning to retire anytime soon.

In the interview, the father of three shared that, although quitting music for good has been on his mind periodically, something keeps pulling him back in. “Just when I say, ‘I’m gonna retire, this is too hard,’ I get a little inspiration and next thing you know, I’m back in the studio,” Hunt said. “I can’t put it down.”

The Singer Has Been Prioritizing Parenthood

Balancing parenthood and performing can be a challenge, and Hunt has been decidedly more focused on the former in recent years. “It’s been a hat that I’ve put on… like stepping into a movie,” he explained to Celeb Secrets about his singer persona. “But I definitely prioritize who I am at home and who I am for my kids now.”

Focusing more on his children than music has led Hunt’s life to look very different these days, and the singer compared his new normal to one of his own songs. “That song ‘Country House’ really reflects where I am in life — tucked away out in the woods, just living a simple little country existence.”

This summer, Sam Hunt fans will be able to see the star on tour. As he announced on Instagram, he’ll be performing at concerts around the U.S. starting on May 29th. As WNEM shared, the singer will also appear at the Ally Community on May 12th in Michigan.

But does a new tour mean new music? As Hunt explained to Celeb Secrets, that’s something he would like to see happen. “I wish I was more prolific,” he said. “I’m just slow.” He also shared that coordinating with his usual collaborators can be difficult, since they all have family obligations of their own. Furthermore, creating fresh material can be challenging.

However,  Hunt did share that he’s beginning to explore a new songwriting topic. While he’s apprehensive about discussing his own children in songs, fatherhood is a theme he’s incorporating. “I am trying to write songs from the perspective of a man who has kids… even if they’re not about my kids, that’s where I am now.”
