Riley Green Leaves the Mic Behind for a Softball Showdown

Riley Green is on tour this summer, but he wasn’t too busy to lend his time (and athletic abilities) to a good cause on Monday. The country music star joined other performers, including Zach Top and Warren Zeiders, in the annual Rock ‘N Jock celebrity softball game. Green shared an Instagram photo carousel from the event, which shows him on the field and interacting with fans.

As Country Insider shared, this is Green’s fifth appearance at the event. The Rock N’ Jock game supports Folds of Honor, an organization that provides much-needed scholarships for family members of disabled or departed first responders and military service members.

The Singer Snagged a Team Captain Spot for the Event

While speaking with Center Stage Magazine at the event, Green shared his reaction to becoming a team captain for this year. “They must’ve had a short list of people to choose from,” the singer humbly joked. Green went on to say that it felt good to be in the captain role for the game.

His interviewer, Missy Wolf, pointed out that he is no stranger to a ball field, which could make him a force to be reckoned with. “Yeah that was about 15 years ago,” the singer said, referring to his football quarterback days. “So we’ll see how that carries over today.” At the end of the segment, Green encouraged his fans to support Folds of Honor however they can. As Country Insider reported, the “Worst Way” singer donated $75,000 this year.

Folds of Honor is just one of several charities Green has supported, and he does so through the Buford Bonds Charitable Fund. As Big Machine Label Group reported, the singer established the fund in 2023. He named the fund for his two grandfathers and focuses on supporting organizations and causes that benefit veterans in their honor.

Fittingly, Green used the proceeds from his “Ain’t My Last Rodeo” album release party to kickstart the fund. He raised $50,000 at that event, and shared his feelings about starting the fund. “My grandaddies were huge inspirations on me, my songwriting, and what is most important to me,” Green shared. “[The release event] was a blast, but it also means a lot to mark the occasion by honoring them and raising money for some great charities that they would have been proud to support.”
