Riley Green Turned to a Country Icon for Advice on His Next Move

Riley Green is eyeing a potential career move, and he had one country music icon in mind. In a recent appearance on the Katie & Company podcast, the singer shared that acting may be on the horizon for him, and he connected with Tim McGraw about making the leap. “I picked Tim’s brain a little bit,” Green explained.

As Green further shared, McGraw helped him see acting in a new light. “Tim’s such a great person to be able to talk to about that,” he said. “Because I feel like there’s some people that try acting as like a one-off thing, but Tim is such a good actor.” Green admitted he thought many actors would be elitist about their work, but in the end, McGraw shared some very encouraging words. “Tim’s like, ‘Hey man I if I can do it, anybody can do it.'” Green shared.

 Green Found McGraw’s Outlook Refreshing

For Green, McGraw’s outlook on acting made the possibility of pursuing it feel less far-fetched. “There’s a great bit of motivation in that kind of attitude, when you’re talking to somebody like that,” he said in his interview. The singer also shared that his view of acting has changed quite a bit over the years.

“I think, as a kid especially, I thought acting was something you were just born with or you weren’t,” Green said. Now, however, he’s begun to think of it as a craft that you can perfect and practice over time. Fans have already seen the singer try his hand at a little bit of acting this year in his “Worst Way” music video. Could more serious roles be in the works?

The Singer Said Some Opportunities Have Already Come His Way

A move to acting isn’t just talk for Green; some opportunities have already come his way. “We’ve had some things that were kind of offered to us,” he said, adding that the connection between country music and “the western lifestyle” would make it a perfect opportunity for him.

However, while he admitted that acting would be a fun avenue to explore, music is still clearly top of mind. “It’s got to be something that I think could help me in my music career as well, to get out in that space and try new things,” he said. The move to acting has been successful for McGraw and several other country singers in recent years, and Green just might be the next to join their ranks.
