New Lainey Wilson Track Has Us in Love at First Listen [Video]

Country music queen (and soon-to-be movie star!) Lainey Wilson has a lot on her plate these days, including treating fans to new music. On May 7, 2025, the singer took to Instagram to preview a new track: “Somewhere Over Laredo.” The video features Wilson singing the song on an empty airplane.

The play on “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” isn’t lost on us, and the unreleased song has a similarly dreamy feel. Unsurprisingly, fans love the tune as much as we do, and the post already has over 22,000 likes as of this publication.

Fans Want “Somewhere Over Laredo” Released ASAP

After Wilson posted the video, fans flocked to the comments section to share their love for “Somewhere Over Laredo,” and many said the same thing: they hope it gets released as soon as possible. One fan said they are excited to hear this track when Wilson goes on tour this fall, and others were at a loss for words, simply comment heart and fire emojis.

Although many fans may not have heard the song before Wilson’s Instagram post, she has actually soft-launched it before. In the comments section of a TikTok video featuring the song, one fan revealed that lucky audiences at this year’s Country 2 Country event in Belfast already got to here “Somewhere Over Laredo” live.

Lainey Wilson Could Take Home 7 ACM Awards

While we all anxiously await the official (as-yet unannounced) release of “Somewhere Over Laredo,” tonight gives Wilson fans a chance to see the already award-winning singer potentially rack up seven more ACM Awards. She is up for some of the most sought-after titles, including Entertainer of the Year, which she won last year. She’s also in the running for Song of the Year for “4x4xU.”

However, Wilson has some stiff competition, including friend Ella Langley, 2025’s most nominated artist. As Taste of Country reported, Wilson felt confident that Langley is going to clean up nicely at tonight’s award ceremony, predicting that her friend will sweep the categories in which she received nominations this year. Langley has already won two awards of this publication, so Wilson may be onto something after all.
