Two of the hottest artists in the music industry came together to create a pop-country duet and have taken the internet by storm.
This Friday, May 16, Morgan Wallen released his latest musical body of work “I’m The Problem“. The album is home to his new track, “What I Want“, featuring Tate McRae. The collaboration was made possible due to one of Wallen’s family member.
As Billboard reported, Ashlyne, Wallen’s sister, is the person behind the two artists collaborating.
“My sister turned me on to Tate and her music a few years ago and I’ve been a fan ever since,” Wallen shared with Billboard. “She is a true pop star, a prolific songwriter and is also an extremely underrated vocalist.”
Wallen revealed the collaboration has been a long-time coming as conversations revolving around a project together have been ongoing for years.
“We have known each other for a couple years,” he said, “and have been talking about doing a song together if the right one came about.”
The country singer shared the track was originally not supposed to be a duet, “but after listening to it a few times, she kept coming to my mind as someone that would really give the song a dynamic element that I felt it deserved.”
“I’m The Problem” Breaks Spotify Record
Wallen’s new album became Spotify’s most-streamed country album in 2025 so far. The recognition was obtained the same day the 37- track album was released.
Fans took on the comments section of Spotify’s Instagram post to share their excitement for Wallen’s new music.
“When Wallen puts out an album,” one fan wrote, “the whole world stops to listen. He is indeed the GOAT.”
“Don’t care what anyone says,” another person commented, “this album is amazing and some don’t even realize just how good it is yet.”
“Haven’t stopped listening to it since last night,” another fan commented.
