Morgan Wallen may be the biggest thing in country music right now, with his new album with Billboard declaring his new “I’m the Problem” album the biggest country album of 2025 so far.
But to his grandmother, “Mamaw Kay,” he’s still just “Mogi.” That’s her nickname for her famous grandson, whose full name is Morgan Cole Wallen.
Mamaw Kay revealed that little nugget and a lot of other inside information when she sat in with radio personalities Joey and Nancy on Knoxville, Tennessee radio station 107.7 WIVK-FM.
Knoxville is Wallen’s hometown. And when WIVK-FM’s Joey and Nancy did their broadcast live from a local restaurant, Morgan’s grandma took the hot seat to field rapid-fire questions.

He may have a reputation as the “bad boy of country music,” but Morgan is a gentlemen around his grandmother. When asked what he “still won’t do in front of her,” she answered immediately, “cuss.”
Mamaw Kay said his favorite dish of hers is corn, and she revealed that Morgan gets his “wild side” from her side of the family.
When the hosts asked her what the worst thing Morgan had done while she was babysitting him as a child, she said, “he chased his sisters around with a stick!”
As for his incredible success and fame, Mamaw Kay is keeping it simple. When the hosts asked her who the most famous person she’s met through her superstar grandson is, she replied, “Probably Tony V, Tony Vitello.” Tony Vitello isn’t a celebrity. He’s the head coach of the University of Tennessee’s baseball team! It’s worth noting that Mamaw Kay was decked out in a Tennessee Volunteer orange jacket for the interview!

Wallen’s grandmother wasn’t the only one who sat in on “Joey and Nancy on WIVK.”
The singer’s parents were the featured guests on May 16, the same day Morgan Wallen dropped his “I’m the Problem” album.

Morgan Wallen Is About to Hit the Road
In less than a month, Morgan Wallen will hit the road for his “I’m the Problem” tour to support his 37-track album by the same name.
The tour will kick off June 20th at Houston’s NRG stadium.
