Morgan Wallen Debuts New Album Songs on SNL Before Abrupt Walk Off

Morgan Wallen made waves during his recent “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) appearance on March 22, not only by showcasing new music but also by abruptly exiting the stage during the closing credits. The country singer skipped the traditional send-off alongside the host and cast members, leaving fans and internet trolls puzzled. This weekend’s host was Academy Award winner Mikey Madison, who has been making headlines following her recent Oscar win for the film “Anora.”

Wallen’s unexpected departure quickly fueled speculation and debate, with some fans seeing it as a snub to the SNL cast, while others defended his actions. Shortly after leaving the stage, he posted a photo of a private jet on his Instagram Stories with the caption, “Get me to God’s Country,” adding more mystery to the situation.

SNL Cast & Crew React to Wallen’s Sudden Exit

The incident didn’t go unnoticed by the SNL team, after writer Josh Patten playfully poked fun at Wallen by sharing an image of a Krispy Kreme truck in the middle of a New York street with the same caption. The lighthearted jab quickly gained traction online.

Actress and SNL cast member Chloe Fineman also engaged in social media discussions, hinting at some tension behind the scenes during rehearsals. However, according to Variety, Wallen’s team downplayed any drama, stating that the singer had “nothing but respect” for the show and calling his exit an “oops moment.”

‘I’m The Problem’—A Preview of Wallen’s New Album

Despite the buzz surrounding his SNL departure, Wallen used his performance to introduce fans to his highly anticipated fourth studio album, I’m The Problem. Set for release on May 16, 2025, the album will feature 37 tracks, giving listeners a deep dive into his evolving artistry.

During his SNL set, Wallen performed two new songs that have been trending heavily on TikTok, “I’m The Problem” and “Just in Case.” The singer also unveiled several other tracks from the album, including “I Got Better,” “What I Want,” “Koal, Chevy and Browning,” and “Where’d That Girl Go,” to name a few.

To promote the album, Wallen will hit the road for his “I’m The Problem Tour,” which kicks off on June 20 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The North American tour will feature other country artists, including Miranda Lambert, Brooks & Dunn, Koe Wetzel, and Thomas Rhett, per Universal Music.

“I have been a problem, for sure, and I’ve got no problem admitting that. But there are other sides to me as well,” Wallen told Country Evolution. “I’ve spent the last 11 months really trying to figure out, ‘Do I still want to be the problem? Is it time to move past that phase in my life?’ I think it probably is, and this might be the last time I get a chance to honestly say it.”

To build anticipation, Wallen has already dropped singles like “Love Somebody” and “Smile.” “Smile” has surged to No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, while “Love Somebody” became his first solo track to debut at No. 1. The emotional ballad gained traction with fans who resonated deeply with its heartfelt lyrics, amassing approximately 22.7 million posts using the song and highlighting its worldwide popularity.

With “I’m The Problem,” Wallen is blending his signature country sound with rock and Americana influences, offering fans a deeply introspective look into his journey of self-reflection and growth. Whether his SNL walk-off was intentional or not, it certainly added another layer of intrigue to this highly anticipated album cycle.
