Leave it to Morgan Wallen to bring out the most random, over-the-top, and iconic guests for his fan-favorite concert walkouts. The latest surprise? None other than Joe Dirt. Yes, that Joe Dirt, played by comedy legend David Spade.
This unexpected moment follows Wallen’s previous walkout stunts in Houston, where he brought out Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale and NFL great Andre Johnson. As if it could get better, rapper Drake and baseball icon Roger Clemens followed that walkout the next day, June 21.
Joe Dirt Takes Over Morgan Wallen
In case you’re unfamiliar with Joe Dirt (and you must be under 25 if you are), the character is a beloved trailer-park underdog. It was first introduced in the 2001 cult-classic comedy of the same name. Played by Spade, Joe Dirt became a pop culture staple for ’90s kids and remains one of Spade’s most iconic roles.
So, why wouldn’t Wallen bring him out for his Glendale, Arizona, walkout? It was hilariously fitting. What made it even better was the execution and the crowd’s stunned reaction.
The moment started out looking like a normal entrance. You know, just Wallen walking through the stadium with his bodyguards behind him holding a huge speaker. But then he looks to his right, confused. That’s when the camera pans out to a man dressed like a janitor cleaning the floor. Fans with a sharp eye immediately recognized the iconic mullet. It was indeed Joe Dirt, or rather, Spade in full character.
Safe to say the crowd immediately erupted as Spade turned toward the camera with a cheeky smile. This man was fully aware of the chaos he had just caused. The comment section online lit up, per usual, with several shocked at the situation. “The way I was like ‘damn, that’s David Spade?’” one user posted. Another joked, “All the young people in the crowd were probably like, ‘why is he walking with that janitor with the mullet?’”
One of the best comments? “From getting bullied by Kid Rock to hanging with Morgan Wallen. Good for Joe Dirt!” Classic.
Wallen Trolls the Coldplay-CEO Scandal
Wallen didn’t stop at just one surprise. He also went on to address the viral Coldplay cheating drama that’s been dominating social media. Like Luke Bryan did earlier, Wallen threw in a clever jab that got the crowd howling.
“Anybody in here with their side chick or whatever, I think you’re safe here,” he joked. Then he doubled down with, “I don’t condone cheating … anymore.”
Obviously, he’s poking fun at the recent chaos that’s been going on, because well, it’s fresh on everyone’s mind and the memes have been everywhere. While Wallen made it clear he was joking, it was a solid move to capitalize on what the internet is already buzzing about. Call it chaotic-neutral marketing, if you will.
Wallen’s Momentum Isn’t Slowing Down
Wallen is clearly having fun with his tour, and it’s working. These moments not only go viral but also show that he knows how to keep the crowd engaged beyond the music.
On top of the antics, his new album, “I’m the Problem,” is absolutely dominating the charts. It’s officially spent its first two months at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. That’s no easy feat, and it proves Wallen knows exactly what he’s doing on stage and off.
