Becoming a parent can completely change your life, and Morgan Wallen appears to have learned a lot from the experience. In an interview with Kelleigh Bannen for “Today’s Country Radio,” the country music star shared some insight into how having his son, Indigo, has changed his outlook on life.
“There was times where I just didn’t really care,” the singer said in the interview, referring to some of his controversial past choices. “I just did whatever I wanted and whatever. But you get older, you have a kid, and you start thinking about how that starts impacting other people and not just yourself.”
Wallen Shared the Meaning Behind ‘Superman,” The Song He Wrote for Indigo

During his interview, Wallen explained the motivation behind writing “Superman,” an “I’m The Problem” track he wrote for his son. “There’s a lot of different things I feel like I was trying to…let him know, not only where I’ve fallen short, but also give him advice,” the singer said. “I tried to say a lot in that one song. It’s really my only song to him at this point.”
Wallen emphasized that part of the song’s intended message is that he’ll protect his son as best he can, but that it’s still important for Indigo to be cautious of other people’s intentions as he grows. As the singer explained, not everyone has your best interests at heart, which can be even more apparent if you’re in the public eye.
The Singer’s Own Father Wrote Him a Heartfelt Letter For The “I’m The Problem” Liner Notes

In addition to reflecting on his own fatherhood experience, Wallen shared how he felt about a sweet gesture from his own father, Tommy. As the singer explained during the interview, he asked his father to contribute something to the “I’m The Problem” liner notes, and what he wrote was truly touching.
“Me and him have been really, really honest and open with each other for the last thirteen years now,” Wallen shared, explaining that his relationship with his father has only gotten better since he moved out on his own. “He became more of my friend and advisor at that point.”
The singer also shared that things have come full circle, since Indigo reminds him of himself. “I’m sure I’m going to get paid back quite a bit,” Wallen lightheartedly said, referring to his sometimes difficult behavior as a child and how similar traits may crop up in his son. “And that’s fine, I think it’s hilarious — at least I do right now.”
