Man Arrested After Bomb Threat at Morgan Wallen’s Nashville Bar

Police arrested a man Monday night after he allegedly threatened to bomb Morgan Wallen’s bar in downtown Nashville. The event caused a major disruption on Lower Broadway and prompted a full evacuation of the six-story venue.

Officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department responded to “This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen” around 9 p.m. after the suspect, 36-year-old Reginald Smith, walked into the building and claimed he was carrying a bomb in his backpack. Guests and staff were quickly ushered out of the building as authorities cordoned off the area. The department’s bomb squad was quickly dispatched to investigate the threat.

Once the area was cleared, police searched Smith’s belongings, where luckily no explosives were found. According to officials, the backpack contained only personal items of no harm. Smith was taken into custody without incident and charged with making a false report and inducing panic.

As of Tuesday morning, Smith remained in custody while police continued their investigation. Authorities have not released a possible motive.

The threat hit close to home for many fans of country music and Wallen, whose bar has become a high-profile addition to Nashville’s downtown entertainment district. “This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen,” which opened in 2024, stretches six stories and features multiple bars, rooftop views, live music, and a menu inspired by “Southern comfort food.” Memorabilia from Wallen’s career is featured throughout the space, including nods to his albums, lyrics, and personal journey.

According to the venue’s official website, the bar is meant to serve as a tribute to Tennessee and Wallen’s fans. Named after his 2019 hit single, “This Bar,” the establishment promises an experience that is authentic to the essence of Morgan’s music and the celebration of the state of Tennessee.”

The bar has been a popular draw for fans visiting from across the country, especially amid Wallen’s rising stardom.

Where is Wallen Now?

Wallen, who is a native of Sneedville, Tennessee, first made a name for himself on NBC’s “The Voice” back in 2014. Since then, he has established himself as one of the most successful country artists, with chart-topping hits like “Whiskey Glasses,” “7 Summers,” and “Sand in My Boots.”

Despite previous controversies, Wallen has maintained a devoted fan base of all ages. His third album, “One Thing at a Time,” dominated the Billboard 200 in 2023, and anticipation is already high for his next release this May.

His upcoming fourth studio album, “I’m the Problem,” is set to drop May 16, featuring high-profile collaborations with artists like Post Malone, HARDY, Tate McRae, Eric Church, and Ernest. Wallen also plans to launch a 10-city tour starting June 20 to promote the album. As Wallen continues to juggle touring, recording, and running one of Music City’s biggest new bars, the spotlight on his every move and his brand remains as bright as ever.
