Luke Who? Luke Combs Hilariously Upstaged By Taylor Swift

It’s a rare occurrence, especially in Nashville, for country superstar Luke Combs to go unnoticed.

But oh how SWIFTLY things can change! At least, they can when Taylor Swift’s in town.

A new video making the rounds on social media captures a hilarious moment when fans line up hoping to catch a glimpse of Taylor Swift as she exits Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl after a surprise performance there June 24.

The fans are rewarded for their patience as Taylor and boyfriend Travis Kelce exit the back door of the Brooklyn Bowl hand-in-hand.

But as Swifties scream for their idol, there’s something they seem to miss.

Hitmaker Luke Combs walks out just seconds behind them.

Combs, sipping from a plastic cup, laughs and waves to fans, leaning against a brick wall as he waits for Taylor and her crew to pull away in a large black SUV.

The look on Luke’s face seems to tell the surrounding Swifties, “yeah, I know I’m not Taylor Swift.”

Luke Combs Shows Fans He’s ‘Back in the Saddle’

While a crowd of Taylor Swift fans may not be his target audience, Luke Combs generally doesn’t have any trouble finding his fans.

And he’s been making those fans extra happy lately as he gets back in the studio to record new music.

On June 25, Luke gave fans a sneak peek at something he’s been working on. In an Instagram post, Luke writes, “Couldn’t wait to show y’all this one. It’s called “Back in the Saddle.” Wrote it with @jonathansingletonmusic and @thebrothershunt.”

In the video, Luke stands in a t-shirt, shorts and a baseball cap, and sings, “I’ve been gone way too long/ I’ve been waitin’ on a drummer to kick off a comeback song/ I’ve been waitin’ in the wings like a dog on a chain.”

During the chorus, he belts out, “‘Cause I’m back in the saddle like some old cowboy who dug his way out of his grave/ pulled up his boots, put his pistol on his hip/ climbed up and took hold of the reins.”

In a post a few days before he treated fans to the new song, Luke posted pictures of himself back in the recording studio with the foreshadowing caption, “Back in the Saddle.”

New Music is Music to Fans Ears After Combs Pulled Back From Touring

While Luke Combs has been headlining major music festivals this summer, including Stagecoach and the only night of Tennessee’s later-rained out Bonnaroo, the singer has otherwise been largely absent from live performances this year.

The singer explained pulling back from touring to fans. He said he wants to spend more time at home with his young sons. In an Instagram post, he wrote, “I know we’re only doing festivals in the US this year, but I thank y’all for giving me the opportunity to change things up and not do my own tour while still knowing how much y’all mean to me.

Luke shares sons 3-year-old Tex and almost 2-year-old Beau with wife Nicole.

Luke Combs Excited About Sixth Album

Luke Combs may not be touring this year, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been singing.

In March, Luke posted a message to fans on X, writing, “I’ve been spending the last couple of weeks working on what my next record looks like, and as it begins to take shape I can honestly say I’ve never felt better about one at this stage. It’s early on but I really do think it could wind up being the best record I’ve ever made.”

And in a two-hour long conversation on the “MeatEater podcast,” Luke said he’d already written forty to fifty songs that were vying for spots on his next album.

Luke is also promising fans a return to the road.

In another Instagram post talking about recording his next album, Luke wrote, “I will be doing a headline tour next year and I am actively working on new music.”
