Singer Lana Del Rey has been teasing a move to country music since the announcement of her yet-unreleased upcoming album. In January 2024, she told a Billboard x NMPA Songwriter Awards audience that the music business as a whole is embracing the genre. “We’re going country,” she said of her new album. “It’s happening.”
With details about her upcoming album still up in the air, fans aren’t quite sure just how country Del Rey will go. For now, the newest chapter in this will she/won’t she country saga unfolded with a Stagecoach performance in April 2025. Her appearance at the event was filled with excellent performances of old favorites, beautiful cover songs, and some brand-new tracks. She also sang a duet with a country titan and made a startling confession through lyrics. Here’s everything you missed from Del Rey’s 2025 Stagecoach appearance.
She “Confessed” to Kissing a Certain Country Music Superstar

Romance between musicians isn’t anything new, but Del Rey made a surprising confession via song while performing at Stagecoach. As Billboard reported, the singer debuted a new song, “57.5” on Friday that contained an jaw-dropping line: “I kissed Morgan Wallen, I guess kissing me kind of went to his head. If you want my secret to success, I suggest don’t go ATVing with him when you’re out west.”
Although Wallen hasn’t commented on the confession as of this publication, it definitely got the audience’s attention. Del Rey told festival goers that she would only be singing the line once, so it’s hard to know if she’ll be willing to share any additional details about the supposed kiss.
Del Rey Joined Jelly Roll on Stage

Jelly Roll headlined day 2 of Stagecoach, and he did so with the help of several friends in the music industry. As Variety reported, Jelly Roll sang alongside MGK, Shaboozey, and, of course, Lana Del Rey. Although Del Rey had performed the day before, her duet with the “Need a Favor” singer was quite unexpected.
Del Rey sang Lainey Wilson’s part of “Save Me” for the performance, and clips from the duet soon spread across social media. An Instagram Reel of the performance earned over 5,000 likes from fans, some of whom commented that they wished they could have been there to see it live.
Del Rey recently announced that her new album is getting a title change and a later release, but an August 2024 Vogue interview gave us some clues as to how the country genre may fit in. “If anything, it will just be a little lighter lyrically,” the singer said. “And more pointed in a classic country, American, or Southern Gothic production…” The songs she has released so far this year, including the momentarily scandalous “57.5” appear to be fulfilling that stylistic promise.
