Lainey Wilson Names a Country Diva in Her Top Karaoke Picks

Even stars like Lainey Wilson have some go-to songs for karaoke nights, and hers come courtesy of a country music legend. As Wilson revealed to The Guardian, she may need a little liquid courage to sing karaoke, but she has two definite favorites. “I’ll pull out some Dolly Parton, 9 to 5 or Two Doors Down,” she said. However, she readily admits that there’s no de-throning the queen of country. “But, at the end of the day, nobody can do it like Dolly.”

Although fans may not ever get a chance to see Wilson tackle Parton at karaoke night, a TikTok video posted in 2024 gave them a taste of what they’re missing. Additionally the pair of talented performers have joined forces in real life.

Karaoke is one thing, but Wilson got to sing alongside Parton in a big way in 2024. During Dolly Parton’s Pet Gala, a show that combined music star power with four-legged fashion, Wilson and Parton took the stage to sing an iconic ballad.

The pair belted out “I Will Always Love You,” and fans on YouTube were stunned. “What a total perfect pairing,” one wrote in the video’s comments section. “Their voices completely complement each other.” Many others agreed with these sentiments. “What an amazing combination of the sweetest, most grateful, humble and beautiful voices together sharing their gift,” another fan wrote.

The Singers Have Both Publicly Praised Each Other

Wilson and Parton haven’t just performed together, they’ve also publicly praised each other on several occasions. Back in 2022, the “Somewhere Over Laredo” told Country Living that Parton was a big source of style inspiration. “When getting dressed for the day, I really try to channel Dolly in the 70’s,” Wilson said. “I think she did a great job at just creating—creating a thing and leaning into as much as she could.”

Parton paid Wilson high praise in honor of her Grand Ole Opry membership in 2024. In a pre-recorded message Country living shared, Parton said: “I would not want to miss the chance to say a few things about Lainey. I love her. We have so much in common.” She went on to describe their similar backgrounds before paying Wilson a huge compliment. “Every time I see somebody they say, ‘Do you know Lainey Wilson personally?’ I say, ‘Yes, I do, and I absolutely love her and so does everybody else.”
