Country singer Lainey Wilson has a lot going on, but she’s not letting that distract her from what’s really important.
And that’s her relationship with fiancé Devlin “Duck” Hodges.
The ACM Entertainer of the Year told People magazine that it comes down to a matter of priorities.
“You have to definitely carve out the time,” she says. “It has to be something that you’re very aware of, and you’re like, ‘Okay, I’ve got a day off here in 10 days. I’ve got to dedicate that day to spend time with my person.'”
And even though her touring schedule is keeping her on the road a lot, that extra effort to spend time with Duck is always worth it. “We both need that and deserve that, and it’s always great. We just try to soak up those moments as best as we possibly can,” says Lainey.
Lainey Wilson Gushes About Her Love for Fiancé
And that may’ve just gotten a bit easier.
Lainey Wilson continues to criss-cross the country in her “Whirlwind” tour, but the tour schedule shows a pretty large gap from March 20 to August 19.
While the “4x4xU” singer won’t reveal if that gap was designed to make time for a wedding, she’s not shy when it comes to talking about what she loves about former NFL player-turned real estate agent Duck Hodges.
Lainey calls him her best friend, saying, “He is one of the purest hearts and people that I have ever met. He is my biggest cheerleader. We don’t really play by the rules.”
But Lainey Wilson recognizes that their relationship is “a lot different than a normal relationship.”
“We don’t get to see each other all the time, and I do live a lot of my life on the road, so we’re also kind of figuring it out as we go, which is fun,” she admits.
When Lainey and Duck went public with their relationship in 2023, the singer told Bobby Bones, “I’ll tell you, he is good as gold. Supports me, would never come in between anything that I’m trying to do.”
Lainey Wilson’s Wedding Plans Might Surprise Fans
While the “Bellbottoms Country” singer isn’t revealing when she and Duck will marry, there’s one detail about her wedding that might surprise fans.
While a star like Lainey Wilson could almost certainly have her pick of any country artist to entertain at her reception, she and Duck won’t have country music at their wedding at all!
During an interview on “Taste of Country Nights,” Wilson revealed that the couple will be “going the jazz route.” Lainey says she’ll be looking to hire a jazz band or two for the festivities.
And while she hasn’t revealed a date for the “I Do’s,” she will say that if anyone is going to get emotional at the altar, it’s Duck. She admits she might shed a tear or two, but only if Duck tears up first.
But don’t expect waterworks from her dad, even on such an emotional day. “I ain’t seen that man cry once in my whole life,” the “Heart Like a Truck” singer said laughing.
