Jelly Roll Is Taking Over ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ as Host— Here’s When To Watch

Country music superstar Jelly Roll is making waves beyond the stage! In a surprise and full-circle moment, the Nashville native is officially stepping into the late-night world as a guest host on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” And yes, you KNOW this is going to be a good one. Here’s hoping Bunnie joins him for the fun!

Known for his raw, emotional lyrics and genre-defying country style, Jelly Roll’s upcoming hosting gig is shaping up to be one of the most exciting debuts of the summer. It’ll be great to see how his personality translates; whether he’s interviewing A-list guests, delivering a killer monologue, or adding a musical twist, we know he’ll absolutely rock it.

Why Is Jelly Roll Hosting?

Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, has amassed a devoted following thanks to his unfiltered storytelling. He has a unique way of blending country, hip-hop, and rock, breaking through the fame wall with hits like “Son of a Sinner,” “Need a Favor,” and “Save Me.”

His 2023 album, “Whitsitt Chapel,” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and No. 3 on the all-genre Billboard 200. It later reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart, solidifying his spot as a genre-crossing multi-force.

The singer is currently on his Beautifully Broken tour, previously touring with Post Malone, where he has further cemented himself as one of country music’s most talented stars.

Who are the Hosts?

On June 20, ABC revealed that the singer is among several big names who are stepping in during Kimmel’s annual summer break. Kimmel, who has taken a hiatus every year since 2020, leaves his desk in the hands of guest hosts who bring their own flavor and feel to the show.

This year’s lineup includes a mix of actors and comedians like Diego Luna, Nicole Byer, Fortune Feimster, Alan Cumming, Kumail Nanjiani, and Anthony Anderson. Now, Jelly Roll is joining the pack, bringing a different kind of Southern charm to the El Capitan Entertainment Centre located on Hollywood Boulevard.

In a promo clip teasing the guest host lineup, Kimmel jokingly waves goodbye, saying, “Goodbye, everybody! I’m outta here.” Meanwhile, Jelly Roll can be heard exclaiming, “This is a big deal!” perfectly capturing the excitement of his debut.

What makes it even more special is that it marks a powerful full-circle moment. The singer made his national TV debut as a musical guest back in June 2022, performing his breakout hit “Son of a Sinner.” Now, just two years later, he’s back, this time behind the desk.

What to Expect

While ABC has not yet revealed the specific date for his appearance, his tour schedule hints at a likely window between July 21 and August 15.

Kimmel’s guest host rotation officially kicks off on Monday, June 23, with Luna. His guest lineup includes Emma Stone, David Corenswet, Patton Oswalt, Adria Arjona, Heidi Klum, Nicholas Hoult, Ariela Barer, and Dolores Huerta. Musical performances will feature Good Charlotte, NEZZA, and Hermanos Gutiérrez.

As for Jelly Roll’s week? We’re hoping it’s heartfelt, hilarious, and, knowing him, a little off the script and just a little unconventional. Hey, Posty, are you free?

This is more than just a fun gig; it’s a chance to show another side of himself. He’s already killing it on “American Idol,” so why not take over for Kimmel? It’s another smart move to bring fresh, unexpected voices into the spotlight.

The late-night show airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and streams the following day on Hulu.
