Pop star Billie Eilish has made a move that has some fans wondering if she and her brother Finneas are going country.
The brother-sister pair have joined the management roster at Nashville’s Sandbox Entertainment.
The artist management company run by Jason Owen has a lineup of big name country artists including Kacey Musgraves, Kelsea Ballerini, Little Big Town and Faith Hill.
For the past ten years, Billie and Finneas have been represented by Los Angeles-based Best Friends Music Management. While industry insiders have expressed surprise at the brother-sister pair’s management jump, Variety reports that there have been rumors of a possible move since last year.
But while the Apple Music Artist of the Year and her brother are not hinting at a genre change, their ties to Nashville actually do run deep.
Billie Eilish and Finneas Both Have Nashville Ties
While Billie Eilish and brother Finneas frequently perform together and collaborate on music, they also each pursue solo endeavors.
Finneas released his second solo album “For Cryin’ Out Loud!” in October. And he sold out the famous “Mother Church of Country Music,” the Ryman Auditorium, when he took the stage there in February to promote that album.
At the time, Finneas told the “Tennessean,” “I love Nashville … very happy to be there. This is my first time headlining a show in Nashville, so that’s really fun.”
“The way that I always feel the most connected to music is going and playing a show and hearing people actually sing along,” he added.
Meanwhile, Billie Eilish’s “Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour” stopped at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena in November. That tour was just in Australia and will begin its European leg April 23. The tour wraps up in Dublin, Ireland July 27. Every single one of the European leg’s 35 concerts are sold out.
Pop Stars Crossing Over Into Country Music in Vogue Right Now
While Billie Eilish and Finneas have not hinted at a country crossover, a change in management isn’t the only thing that makes that a possibility.
Pop musicians have made dipping into country music popular lately, with the biggest example being Beyoncé’s history-making country album “Cowboy Carter,” which took home the Grammy for album of the year.
But she’s certainly not the only one. Pop singer Sabrina Carpenter found success on the country charts thanks to a collaboration with country icon Dolly Parton.
Post Malone and Chappell Roan have also found success in country music in recent months.
