George Strait has spent most of his life living in Texas, so issues impacting his home state are understandably close to his heart. In the wake of devastating flash floods that claimed the lives of over 130 people, the country music legend made a major announcement about his plans to lend a hand to victims. In an Instagram post, Strait shared details about a benefit concert, “Strait to The Heart,” scheduled for July 27th.
The event promises a dinner and concert for donors, and ticket sales will help support flood victims. “The goal with this event is to raise meaningful, immediate support that can be put directly into the hands of flood victims without delay, while also honoring the first responders that work tirelessly to save lives,” Strait said in a statement. The post quickly amassed over 24,000 likes from fans.
Many Other Country Artists Will Join Strait at The Event

Strait won’t be the only country star performing at “Strait to The Heart.” As the Instagram post explains, Riley Green, Jamey Johnson, and several others will also take the stage. Although not a Texas native, Green has a history of supporting those in need through his own organization, The Buford Bonds Charitable Fund.
Fans had a strong response to the event announcement, quickly flooding phone lines to reserve tickets. Strait’s team updated the original Instagram post on 7/13 to explain how they were meeting ticket demand. According to the update, the lowest-priced tickets were already all sold out, and venue staff were working all week to take additional orders.
The Singer’s Stadium Performances Are Winding Down

Throughout 2025, Strait has played stadium shows across the U.S. with fellow singer Chris Stapleton. Strait announced the five-show run in February. “I still love it just as much as I always have,” Strait said of performing in the announcement. The last planned stadium concert, which will feature Strait, Stapleton, and Little Big Town, will take place on July 19th at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium.
Strait hasn’t announced any retirement plans as of summer 2025, but his live performances, have gradually become less frequent over the years. The Texas benefit event may be one of the few remaining chances fans have to see him live before the year ends.
