VIDEO: George Strait Surprises Fans with A-List Guest

When George Strait fans took their seats for a July 20th show in Inglewood, California, they knew they’d see their favorite performer playing some of his best hits. However, what they didn’t know is that he’d brought a special A-list guest along for the ride. Fellow country music star Miranda Lambert took the stage for a surprise performance, and fans couldn’t get enough. In an Instagram Reel from the event, the pair sang “How ‘Bout Them Cowgirls” together.

Lambert posted her own Instagram carousel with stills from the show, and fans in the comments section were just as excited as the SoFi Stadium crowd. “Best concert ever,” one fan wrote. “Seeing you last night with Chris and King George was the icing on the cake!!!!!” Others dubbed Lambert and Strait two of the best examples of what country music has to offer. The show was part of the stadium concert series Strait has embarked on with Chris Stapleton throughout the year.

Lambert’s Outfit Included a Not-so-Subtle Nod to The Country Crooner

It’s a big honor to play alongside a legend like Strait, and Lambert paid homage to him with one detail from her outfit. The simple yet stylish look fittingly featured a band tee with Strait’s face on it. Lambert happily called attention to her shirt during the concert. “Do y’all like my shirt?” she asked the crowd in an Instagram Reel from the concert. “This is a vintage George tee,” Lambert said.

“Who’s that guy?” Strait joked before paying Lambert a compliment about her outfit. “You look good in it,” the singer said. Lambert paired the shirt with a classic white cowboy hat, jeans, and a chunky statement necklace.

Strait and Lambert Also Shared a Stage For The 54th ACM Awards

The Sunday night concert wasn’t, the first time this dynamic duo took the stage together; they’ve joined forces a few other times in the past. One of their most memorable shared performances came at the 54th ACM Awards, when the pair sang “Run” for the live audience. In a video from the show, their onstage chemistry and blended vocals make for a very enjoyable rendition of the 2001 hit.

Although Strait performed the song solo for his album, “The Road Less Traveled,” a live version featuring Lambert did appear on another record. That album, “The Cowboy Rides Away: Live From AT&T Stadium,” hit shelves in 2014 and featured live recordings from his record-breaking final official touring show. As Billboard reported at the time, the concert smashed a Billboard Boxscore record for the biggest stadium attendance for a single show in the U.S.
