Garth Brooks Reveals Favorite Songs From Trisha Yearwood’s New Album

Country legend Garth Brooks is bursting with pride over wife Trisha Yearwood‘s new album, “The Mirror,” which just dropped July 18.

In fact, the “Friends in Low Places” singer is SO proud, he’s written a series of articles on his website about her accomplishment.

And one of those articles lays out which new songs from “The Mirror” Garth loves the most. And that’s saying something, since Garth calls Trisha’s new album his “favorite album” his wife has ever made.

In fact, Garth is expressing his pride in a rare, personal Instagram post. The post shows a picture of Garth holding wife Trisha’s new album. He writes, “I’ve never been more excited for you, @trishayearwood you’ve outdone yourself! The Mirror is my FAVORITE album you have EVER made…the world is lucky to hear your voice, your stories and your soul in this way. This album, like you, is a gift to all of us! love, me

🤫 to my fellow TY fans, I sat and watched her sign albums one night at the house, I jokingly asked her if she would sign one for me, she laughed and said if I wanted an album signed I could click the link and buy one myself! Don’t mind if I do!”

He’ll get his chance to get that album signed Sunday, July 20- when Yearwood will be on Nashville’s iconic party street Lower Broadway, signing special blue editions of “The Mirror” for fans.

‘Put It In a Song’ Is One of Garth’s Favorites

In his article about his favorite songs from “The Mirror,” Garth declares the album “stacked with classics.”

But the first song he highlights as a favorite isn’t actually on the album.

Garth writes of “Put It In a Song,” “This gem is not actually on the record but a bonus track for the streaming world. From the second I heard this song when she was singing it around the house, I felt an instant kinship with the lyric and especially the melody. Jim “Moose” Brown has always had this ‘gift’ for melody. Everything he writes feels like it comes from within your own soul. Then, put ‘the truth’ in the haunting melody, and you have a song that is a classic right out of the box.”

Trisha Yearwood performed “Put It In a Song” at the CMT Awards in April. In a Facebook post, CMT put up a video of the performance, writing, “Cannot put into words how much we *loved* Trisha Yearwood’s performance of “Put It In A Song”

Garth Calles ‘When October Settles In’ a ‘Haunting Melody’

Garth Brooks’ second pick as a favorite on “The Mirror” is When October Settles In.”

Of the song, he writes, “Talk about a haunting melody. Why do some songs make you cry the first time you hear them, even if the storyline is not your own? I think it is because GREAT writing leaves spaces where you get to put your own story into the lyric. Again, if you want to know Trisha Yearwood, every time fall comes around, she gets in this ‘place’ of recollection. You know that place where the past was so touching, it lives forever? Beautiful work.”

‘Girls Night In’ Is What Garth Calls ‘An Instant Hit’

Garth Brooks declares “Girls Night In” one for the charts.

Garth writes, “This song is an instant hit. When she does this song live, try to remember no one in the audience has heard it. And yet, it gets a standing ovation at the end…mostly wives turning to their husbands and clapping in their faces. (laughs) Songs are supposed to make us fly and feel freedom we usually do not feel. This song gets that done and then some.”

Trisha Yearwood also explained more about the song in an Instagram post, saying, “I’m talking about how important our girlsfriends are. And how you can be whatever you are in that moment, and it’s ok.”

Trisha relates, “There’s this story about elephants, female elephants, who surround each other. When one is in trouble, they get in a circle and protect the one in the middle. Whatever the one in the middle is going through, if one’s giving birth or one’s sick. And so sometimes there’s a different elephant in the middle and the other female elephants are protecting. And that’s kind of the way I feel about my girlfriends. Sometimes it’s my turn and I need the help, and sometimes it’s your turn and I got you.”

Garth Brooks Compares ‘When I’m With You’ to a Judds Song

Garth Brooks’ next favorite is “When I’m With You.”

He writes, “SMASH. This song feels like a classic Judds’ song. This is one of those songs I put on repeat and let it play again and again—the writing, the melody, the performance…all top shelf. Well crafted. If I ever give a Songwriting 101 class, this will be one of my examples.”

‘Fearless These Days’ Is An Attention Grabber for Garth Brooks

For Garth Brooks, the final standout song on “The Mirror” is Fearless These Days.”

Garth writes, “I’ve seen this song stop a room. This song DEMANDS attention, and boy, does it get it. When we talk about relatable, I think a lot of us in songwriting think, ‘check the boxes.’ But relatable is NOT about checking the boxes, not about listing things. It’s about the experiences we ALL can share in our lives. This song is full of them, giving all of us the courage to overcome the times we have fallen in our pasts. For the record, I don’t believe Trisha is fearless, and I think she would agree. What she IS these days is she is not afraid to try and fail. I am extremely proud of her.”

And Garth Brooks is showing that pride every chance he gets. In another Instagram post touting the new album, Garth writes, “Just when you thought her voice couldn’t get any bigger … she’s found another gear with her song writing. The Mirror will be your favorite Trisha album yet!”
