Dierks Bentley is making sure everybody gets the help they deserve. The country star recently announced the “Broken Branches Fund,” which will help support mental health across the music industry.
Partnering with Music Health Alliance, also known as MHA, the organization will provide assistance to crew members and creatives who work behind the scenes. Bentley has reportedly worked with the nonprofit for several years to promote mental health resources for those in the creative and touring community. The fund will also provide grants for eligible individuals and families to help cover outpatient counseling and ongoing care plans.
Dierks Bentley Introduces MHA
Tatum Allsep, founder of MHA, praised Bentley’s dedication in a statement, saying, “Dierks was one of the first artists to believe in and support Music Health Alliance, and from day one, he’s led with both heart and action. Creating the Broken Branches Fund at MHA to support music’s mental health shows his deep commitment to the people who power our industry both on stage and off, and to their well-being for many years to come.”
Bentley shared the news on Instagram, captioning a video, “Introducing the Broken Branches Fund in partnership with Music Health Alliance. The fund will provide our community with mental health care for folks working to keep country music playing and to their families. If you’d like to join me in donating to help, you can visit my link in bio to donate.”
Music Health Alliance, with the help of healthcare partners and several advocates, have reportedly helped more than 32,000 music professionals across the United States. They have provided essential health resources since their launch in 2013. The organization covers everything from mental health and transplants to mediation and end-of-life care, reportedly saving more than $145 million in healthcare costs. According to MHA, it offers many services free of charge to those who have worked in the music industry for at least three years.
Help Provided For All Musicians and Families
Fans will be able to donate to the campaign through Bentley’s summer tour and via the organization’s official donation website. The country star is preparing to release his 11th studio album, “Broken Branches,” on June 13. He is also gearing up for his 30-city Broken Branches Tour, which is one of the inspirations for partnering with the organization.
In a statement, Bentley said, “Making this album and preparing for the tour, I’ve never been more aware of the sacrifice that the people in this town make every day to keep country music playing.”
He continued, “Whether you’re sitting in a room all day trying to write the perfect hook or leaving home on a bus for weeks at a time, it can be isolating and exhausting. This just felt like the right opportunity to make a bigger commitment on my part to supporting those folks and their families in a more direct and intentional way.”
Earlier this year, MHA announced it had partnered up with Universal Music Group. Together, they decided to successfully launch the Music Industry Mental Health Fund. Several praised the organization, applauding them for providing “comprehensive, high-quality outpatient mental health resources for music industry professionals across the United States.”
