Country Star Cancels Upcoming Concerts After Fatal Car Accident

Country artist Conner Smith has canceled a few upcoming concerts after being involved in a tragic accident in Nashville.

One week after the singer fatally struck a pedestrian in a crosswalk, he is taking some time away from the stage. “As Conner Smith takes time to privately process recent events, he will unfortunately not be performing in Akron on June 20. We appreciate your understanding and continued support during this difficult time,” his team shared in a statement to the organizers for the Military Appreciation Concert in Akron, Ohio.

On June 21, 2025, Conner was scheduled to perform at the “Buckeye Country Superfest” alongside huge headliners like Jelly Roll, Kane Brown, and Megan Maroney. The festival has since confirmed that the singer has opted out, saying on X (formerly Twitter), “Conner Smith will unfortunately not be performing this weekend. Vincent Mason will be joining us at The Shoe in his place.”

According to his website, Conner’s next scheduled show is on July 18, 2025, in Lake Ozark, MO., and a string of dates throughout the summer is still scheduled to follow.

Conner Smith Struck and Killed a 77-Year-Old Woman in Nashville

According to a June 9, 2025, press release from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Smith was the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that struck and killed 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, driven by Conner Smith, 24, was traveling north on 3rd Avenue North as Dobbins was crossing the roadway. It appears that she was inside a marked crosswalk when she was struck around 7:30 p.m. Dobbins, who lived nearby, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died.

The preliminary contributing factor for this crash appears to be Smith failing to yield the right of way to the pedestrian. He showed no signs of impairment. There are no charges at present as the investigation continues,” says the release.

Conner has yet to address the accident personally, but his attorney, Worrick G. Robinson, has issued a statement on his behalf.

“On June 8th, Mr. Smith was involved in a car accident that tragically claimed a life,” Robinson said in a statement to E! News. “His heart goes out to Ms. Dobbins’ family during this incredibly difficult time. Mr. Smith continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.”
