These Country Singers Top List of Most Popular MLB Walk-Up Songs

Country music and sports have long been closely connected. Many country stars played sports before becoming famous, and some famous athletes have tried their hand at being country singers. Therefore, it’s no surprise that pro baseball players look to the genre when choosing their walk-up songs.

In April 2025, Brooks Gate shared a post on X showing several country hits among the most popular MLB choices for the year. From modern hits to beloved classics, it’s clear that the relationship between country and baseball is still as strong as ever.

Chris Stapleton Came Out on Top With “White Horse”

When it comes to walk-up songs, a dramatic, engery-driven opening is always a winner. That’s exactly what you get from the Chris Stapleton hit “White Horse,” which topped the Brooks Gate list. Seven MLB players selected the track as their walk-up song for this season — more than any other song on the list.

Johnny Cash is a Close Second With “God’s Gonna Cut You Down”

Johnny Cash has staying power most artists can only dream of, and his rendition of “God’s Gonna Cut You Down” is popular with MLB players this year. The song edged out many other tracks for the runner-up spot, with six players choosing the haunting Man in Black tune. However, this one isn’t a Cash original; several other artists have recorded the song before and since, including one-time touring partner Elvis Presley.

MLB Players Clearly Love Blake Shelton’s “God’s Country”

Blake Shelton has plenty of awards and accomplishments to his name, and being counted among the artists with a popular walk-up song is one of his latest. His 2019 hit, “God’s Country,” is still beloved by many country fans, including the five MLB players that selected it as their walk-up song for this season. The song is among the many that fellow artist HARDY has helped pen throughout his career as a songwriter.

Luke Combs Earned a Spot on The List With “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma”

Luke Combs celebrated the opening of his Nashville bar, Category 10, in 2025, and he can also celebrate “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma” being a popular walk-up song. In a video clip shared by the MLB Network, Combs explained how his love affair with baseball began. According to the singer, the first concert he ever attended was a Vince Gill show at a Charolette Knights baseball game. From there, going to see the Asheville Tourists play helped his love of the game grow.

This List is Among The Few Without Morgan Wallen at The Top

Morgan Wallen is a big baseball fan and former player, and he has even donated money to his former high school to support their athletic department. However, while the singer easily dominates the country music charts, he isn’t quite as popular with the MLB players. His 2023 hip-hop hybrid, “Cowgirls,” made the cut, but his more recent hits are surprisingly absent from the top of the list.
