Chris Stapleton has reached an extraordinary milestone! The singer just showcased how much of a powerhouse he is. The country singer’s debut album, “Traveller,” released in May 2015, has now spent an astonishing 500 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart! A huge moment and achievement for Stapleton, as he entered legendary territory.
This historic award places the country music singer among a rare group of artists whose albums have shown lasting popularity and influence. “Traveller,” produced by Dave Cobb and Stapleton himself, initially garnered major attention following the singer’s unforgettable performance at the 2015 Country Music Association Awards. That pivotal moment launched the album into mainstream success, quickly returning it to No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Another Milestone for Chris Stapleton
In an interview with Billboard during the album’s initial rise to the top, Stapleton said, “We sold 27,000 records the first week and played David Letterman, Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert, but [after the CMA’s] the album went back into the chart at No. 1. Doesn’t suck! The lesson is, make music that you love.”
As of this week, “Traveller” holds the No. 91 position on the Billboard 200, with 12,700 equivalent album units sold. It also sits at No. 15 on the Top Country Albums chart and No. 9 on the Top Americana/Folk Albums chart. Safe to say, Stapleton has definitely added another notch to his career, as he rightfully should.
Since its release, “Traveller” has collected a long list of accolades. It won Album of the Year at the 2015 CMA Awards and at the Academy of Country Music Awards. It also earned Stapleton a Billboard Music Award for Top Country Album, among several other honors.
The album’s sustained chart presence is a testament to the “You Should Probably Leave” singer’s lasting impact on country music and the Americana genre. His unique blend of rock, bluegrass, R&B, and soul, paired with deep and powerful songwriting, has deeply resonated with audiences for nearly a decade. Let’s not forget about the long list of artists he has collaborated with, including Adele, Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Justin Timberlake, Sheryl Crow, and more.
Stapleton and Childers to Headline Healing Appalachia 2025
Stapleton’s success goes way beyond the charts. He is also set to headline the 2025 Healing Appalachia music festival alongside fellow country favorite Tyler Childers. The event is scheduled for September 19–20 at the Boyd County Fairgrounds in Ashland, Kentucky.
Healing Appalachia is more than just a music festival—it’s a charitable initiative benefiting Hope in the Hills. The nonprofit organization focuses on supporting recovery efforts throughout the region. It also provides services such as harm reduction education, recovery-to-work programs, and mentorship for teenagers in foster care.
“Moving Healing Appalachia to Kentucky is special for a lot of reasons,” said festival co-organizer Ian Thornton. “It exemplifies the growth of something that started as an idea on how we could create change in a world that we were watching destroy our friends and families firsthand. Watching it start at home in West Virginia with 1,500 people, to becoming the movement that it is today and being able to start traveling through Appalachia—it’s an honor to have Tyler and Chris headline this inaugural trip across the Big Sandy as a couple of local boys who did it right.”
Tickets for Healing Appalachia 2025 are now available through the festival’s official website.
Stapleton’s continued success with “Traveller” and his commitment to community-based initiatives like Healing Appalachia underscore not only his influence in the music world, but also his dedication to uplifting music lovers nationwide.
