You’ll get many different answers if you ask for advice on calming down nerves before a first date. Some may be practical, such as Brandon Sklenar’s advice to meditate beforehand, or unrealistic, such as Sklenar’s advice to keep meditating throughout the date. And some suggestions, such as “White Lotus” star Meghann Fahy’s recommendation to drink, might be suitable for one person and ill-considered for another. But while the two “Drop” leads may have contrasting opinions on first-date jitters, there’s plenty they share common ground on
They Agree on First Date Dealbreaker
Both actors are jovial as ET asks them about dealbreakers and red flags. “Tank top,” Fahy blurts out. Sklenar seems deep in thought about the question, until he answers: “A beard.” As Fahy laughs, Sklenar jokingly elaborates, “Unsightly body hair… I’m shallow, I guess.” But then Sklenar changes course, speaking seriously that a major date dealbreaker is “If someone is rude to the waiter.” Fahy jumps in, exclaiming, “I was just going to say that!”
They both agree that being rude to the waiter “is the real answer,” with Fahy adding that she’d gone on a date with someone who had done that. After insinuating that she’d thrown a glass of water in his face and left, she admitted that she “didn’t really leave, but, I was like, he finished himself.”
Sklenar Admits To Meeting His Girlfriend on a Dating App
After the conversation about red flags ends, the interview shifts to whether or not Fahy or Sklenar have used dating apps. Fahy acknowledges that she tried it once. “I went on two dates with one person and that was it,” she said. “It wasn’t really my bag, I don’t think” she continued. “But I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and give it a try.” On the other hand, Sklenar met his girlfriend, Courtney Salviolo, on the dating app Hinge.
“I didn’t even have Instagram at the time, or anything,” he revealed. “I didn’t have Facebook, I wasn’t a phone app guy. It was right when Covid happened.” Luckily for Sklenar, it only took a couple of weeks before he found love. While filming in Africa for “Yellowstone” spin-off “1923,” he found it difficult to be away for so long. “I’m a home body – I love to be home with my partner and my dog and my house,” he told Forbes. “The irony is I have a job that takes me everywhere, which I love, too. It’s a weird dichotomy.”
