Bravo Announces New Show: ‘Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition’

Bravo announced four major new upcoming shows on May 7, with “Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition” making the roster.

“When a ‘Real Housewife’ takes off her stilettos and steps into a real housewife’s shoes, all bets are off as two of entertainment’s most iconic franchises are mashed up leading to laugh-out-loud moments, personal epiphanies and an opportunity to see if the grass is truly greener,” the network tweeted.

“wife swap is actually a good idea! i love this lol,” a fan replied. Another tweeted, “Okay but I’m actually really excited about housewives wife swap.”

One fan quipped, “I’m not sure about this. These housewives don’t actually take care of things they have assistants.”

The Rumored ‘Real Housewives’ To Star in ‘Wife Swap’

The Instagram account Bravo and Cocktails revealed on April 23 which “Real Housewives” stars are rumored to star in “Wife Swap.”

On the list were Emily Simpson from “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” Melissa Gorga of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” Wendy Osefo from “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” and “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star, Angie Katsanevas.

While details of the new show hasn’t been revealed yet, it the model follows ABC’s original “Wife Swap,” the housewives will enter another housewife’s home for an extended period of time and deal with the family’s dynamics.

One ‘Real Housewife’ Was On the Original ‘Wife Swap’

In July 2014, “The Real Housewives of New York City” star Jill Zarin appeared in “Wife Swap,” trading places with “Blossom” star Jenna von Oy.

Jill made her way over to Nashville Tenessee to live with von Oy’s then-husband Brad Bratcher. Meanwhile the actress stayed with Bobby Zarin, Jill’s daughter Ally Shapiro, and their dog Ginger in the Hamptons.

The change of scenery was a shock to Jill, who couldn’t believe how small von Oy’s house was, while the “Moesha” star was amazed by the “Real Housewife’s” expensive closet.

“We all enjoyed the adventure tremendously, which is shocking when you consider how awry it could have easily gone!” von Oy wrote in a blog for People.

She continued, “I say this, despite any initial acerbic comments that you may have overheard in the episode. I mean, what’s a reality show with no drama? A boring one, I suppose. The truth is that we made friends for life in the whole Zarin family.”

As for Jill’s dog, von Oy wrote, “The fact is that Ginger and I have what some of you might perceive as a love/hate relationship.”

She joked, “Oh, Ginger, can’t we all just get along? Rest assured, there’s zero love lost on my end, sweet girl. I will continue to bribe you with treats and vie for your affections with squeaky toy incentives.”
