Venita Aspen once thought her relationship with her co-star JT “Jarrett” Thomas had the potential to lead to marriage.
In March 2025, the “Southern Charm” star spoke out in an interview with Us Weekly to address comments she made during an episode of the “Southern Charm After Show” alluding to the possibility of someday marrying Thomas.
“Isn’t that crazy? “ Aspen said of her prior remarks about the relationship. “You know what, time is really something. It’s so crazy. Leva [Bonaparte] and I would talk about JT a lot. … She was like, ‘I can really see you guys getting along, dating, making something of this.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, me too.’ Then, here we are.”
Aspen previously told Access Hollywood’s “Housewives Nightcap” that she dated Thomas right before he went Instagram official with a new girlfriend, Ali Pereless, last fall. Fans saw some of the girlfriend drama play out during the 10th season of “Southern Charm.” Thomas resigned from the show ahead of the season 10 premiere.
Speaking with us, Aspen clarified that she and Thomas never actually discussed marriage when they dated from September to November 2024. “No, no, no,” she told host Christina Garibaldi. “We just were trying to figure out, ‘Hey, OK, are we doing the dating thing or are we not? Let’s go out and see if we really do have this chemistry that everyone else is saying that we have.’”
Venita Aspen Said She Was in Love With JT Thomas ‘To a Degree’
Aspen spilled details on her ill-fated relationship with Thomas on the March 20 episode of “Watch What Happens Live.” After host Andy Cohen asked her to describe her “brief romantic relationship” with her former best friend, Aspen replied, “It was the most fun I had in a really long time.”
She also described the South Carolina businessman as “sweet, compassionate, and caring” as a lover.
During the March 20 episode of the “Southern Charm After Show,” Aspen said her relationship with Thomas changed when he “didn’t show up” after she had his back all season long. “And I was just like, ‘I guess he’s just showing his true colors to me,” she said on the After Show. “I was riding for the kid, and he just didn’t show up.”
Aspen admitted that she had started to fall in love with Thomas. ‘Yeah, to a degree. I won’t say no,” she shared. “To a degree, there was like a developmental moment of like ‘Oh like I think I could actually love this person.’ And then he did me dirty and now it’s ‘I’ll put your head on a [expletive] stake.’”
Venita Aspen No Longer Speaks to JT Thomas
On WWHL, Aspen told Cohen she no longer considers Thomas a gentleman. “Not at the moment,” she said. When asked where she stands now with Thomas, she replied, “We’re not standing at all .”
She told Us Weekly that the hardest part of the estrangement is that she lost someone she considered to be her best friend. “I think that’s the part that actually hurts me more,” Aspen said. “I am mourning my best friend. We had such fun together. We used to shoot the [expletive]. We would go golfing and dinners and walks in the morning and breakfast and working moments and it was just like I lost all of that and it sucked.”
