‘Southern Charm’ Star Teases Upcoming Memoir

Patricia Altschul is working on a tell-all book.  In March 2025, the “Southern Charm” matriarch spoke out in an interview with Glamour magazine to tease her new memoir, which will be published in late 2025.

“I just finished,” Altschul told the magazine of her new book. “I think it’s 60,000 words, and I’m now picking out photographs. And not to brag, but the publisher said it was one of the best memoirs he’s ever read. I was very heartened by that.”

“And going through everything, going over these events in my life, I was kind of struck by what an interesting life I’ve led,” the 83-year-old South Carolina socialite added. “It’ll be ready right before BravoCon.”

Altschul has appeared on “Southern Charm” every season since its debut in 2014.

Other ‘Southern Charm’ Stars Have Written Books

The new memoir is not Altschul’s first book. In 2017, she penned the lifestyle book, “The Art of Southern Charm.” The book provided etiquette advice for “living a glamorous Southern lifestyle.”

Altschul previously told Decider, “I have lots of interesting friends, and if you look through my book, you’ll see that I have them quoted as experts throughout the book.”

In addition to Altschul, former “Southern Charm” star Cameran Eubanks penned the 2021 book, “One Day You’ll Thank Me,” which featured essays on dating, motherhood, and more.

That same year, SC mainstay Shep Rose published ”Average Expectations: Lessons in Lowering the Bar,” which offered his take on relationships, travel, and more.

And most recently, Craig Conover shared his life story in the 2022 tell-all “Pillow Talk: What’s Wrong With My Sewing?”

Patricia Altschul Says ‘Southern Charm’ Is a Male Version of ‘The Real Housewives’

In her new book, Altschul will undoubtedly include anecdotes about her many years on “Southern Charm.” She told Glamour that she enjoys her low-key role as a “friend” on the show.

“I always have fun in every season because not much is expected from me except to provide alcohol and food and a place over their heads,” she explained. “ So, I just sit back and watch it all and have a good time.”

She also compared the show to another Bravo reality franchise. “The dynamics between all of the cast members, it doesn’t change,” she said. “And it’s really a male version of Housewives. The women come and go, except for me, but the guys are the mainstays of the show, and they’re more dramatic than women in real life, I think.”
