Simu Liu Swaps the Ten Rings to Join Reality TV Legends

Simu Liu is stepping away from the Ten Rings and into something totally new: reality TV. After making waves in the MCU with his role as Shang-Chi in “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” Liu is now going to be doing something much different as the host of Hulu’s newest reality series, “Got to Get Out.”

Fans shouldn’t worry though, he’s still set to appear as Shang-Chi in future MCU projects (like the “Shang-Chi 2” film). In the meantime, he’s taking on other work such as this hosting gig, where he will be guiding the celebrity contestants through intense and unpredictable challenges.

What Fans Can Expect

Making the transition from playing a superhero to hosting a reality series might not make sense to some, but if you’ve seen Lui’s work you’ll know he has a great personality. His charisma makes him a perfect choice for hosting a series like “Got to Get Out.”

According to People, the official synopsis says: “Lies and lunacy collide in this exhilarating competition series where an outrageous mix of reality icons and crafty gamers must conspire to get out. In this house, time is money. As the clock ticks up, so does the prize money. The longer they stay, the greater their chance to earn more. They can split the money equally in the end, or at any point in time, try to make their escape with the accumulated money all for themselves, leaving others to start again at $0. From wild strategies and temptations to shifting alliances and unbelievable escape attempts, the players will try any and every way to make it out of the gate and win the prize.”

If you’re a fan of shows like “The Amazing Race,” “Big Brother,” and “The Traitors,” you’ll probably get a kick out of this show. It is all about pushing contestants to the limit, testing their teamwork, and forcing them to think fast in high-pressure situations. From what we can see, it sounds like this series is going to be a wild ride, and Liu’s hosting will only add to the fun. It’s clear he’ll be bringing the same enthusiasm he brought to “Shang-Chi,” but this time, he’s in control of the action.

The Star-Studded Cast

The show wouldn’t be complete without an exciting cast, and “Got to Get Out” definitely delivers. The series features a lineup of well-known stars (per People), such as:

These are just the start, though; more players newer to reality TV will be bringing their own unique flair to the challenges and competing for the massive $1 Million prize. With personalities like these, there’s no doubt it’s going to be a drama-filled, must-watch experience.

Sadly, there isn’t a trailer out yet. However, there is good news: “Got to Get Out” is set to premiere Friday, April 11, 2025 on Hulu.
