Paige DeSorbo issued what appears to be a response to Patricia Alstchul’s public support of her =ex, Craig Conover, one month after their breakup.
In a message to her Instagram stories on January 31, DeSorbo posted, “Teaching your daughters to have a voice is way more important than being nice.”
The post came hours after Altschul weighed in on DeSorbo’s split from Conover during an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live.”
In December 2024, DeSorbo announced that she ended her relationship with the “Southern Charm” star after three years of dating. “Craig and I have decided to no longer be together,” she told fans on the December 30 episode of her “Giggly Squad” podcast. She explained that “no one did anything” wrong and that it was “the right decision” for them both. “I think we both were just being really mature and saying what we want and what we didn’t want,” DeSorbo said of ending the relationship.
Patricia Altschul Said Paige DeSorbo Was ‘Mean’ To Craig Conover
On January 30, WWHL host Andy Cohen asked Altschul about Conover’s split from DeSorbo after three years of dating. The “Southern Charm” matriarch appeared unsurprised by the breakup.
“I thought that Paige was mean to Craig,” Altschul said. “I did. And if you think back, Naomie [Olindo] was mean to Craig. And I think he deserves somebody who would really love and cherish him. Because remember, he said to [Paige] ‘I want to get married and have kids’ and she said, ‘Bleh?’”
After DeSorbo posted her comment about being “nice,” fans reacted on Reddit.
“You can have a voice and still be kind,” one Reddit user wrote.
“Being nice and being kind are very different things in my opinion,” another agreed.
Another wrote, “I respect both Paige and Naomie as strong women. And let’s not infantilize Craig in the matter either please, he’s a grown man with agency attracted to strong, independent women.”
Other commenters saw both sides of the situation. “I don’t think Paige necessarily did anything wrong, but I think if you’re a loyal friend it’s just your job to think the ex who dumped your friend is mean 😂,” one Redditor added.
Paige DeSorbo Also Had Words For Austen Kroll

“Southern Charm” star Austen Kroll appeared on the same WWHL episode as Altschul. During one segment, he addressed rumors that DeSorbo had already moved on from Conover with a new guy. There have been reports that DeSorbo is involved with sports agent Joe D’Amelio and reportedly spent New Year’s Eve with him hours after confirming her split from Conover.
“I don’t think that those are rumors,” Kroll told Cohen. “I think that they’ve been substantiated, and I think Craig knows as such. You know, he didn’t know for a minute, but yeah — I think that he’s fully come to terms with that. That’s not a rumor.”
DeSorbo responded hours after Kroll appeared on the show on January 30. The “Summer House” star commented on the WWHL Instagram page with a dig at Kroll. “Ahhh yes a man I haven’t spoken to in 6 months knows exactly what I’m doing,” she wrote.
While Altschul and Kroll have taken issue with DeSorbo post-split, it’s unclear what her relationship is with the other “Southern Charm” cast members. DeSorbo previously told People magazine she was friends with the female cast members. “All of the ‘Southern Charm; girls have been so lovely and so nice to me. And I’m really so thankful because coming into a new group of girlfriends is hard for anyone,” she said in 2023. “Olivia [Flowers]’s been so sweet and Madison [LeCroy] and Venita [Aspen] is always up in New York, so I’m really thankful that they’ve been so nice to me.”
