Mauricio Umansky Shares His Theory About Why Marriages End on Bravo

“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” personality Mauricio Umansky shared his theory why some Bravo stars’ marriages come to an end after they become reality television personalities.

During the December 24 episode of “Bravo’s Hot Mic” podcast, Umansky, who announced he and his now-estranged wife, Kyle Richards had separated in 2023, stated that during his 14 years on RHOBH, he has seen many divorces. He said he believes some Bravo stars do not realize the issues in their marriage until their lives are captured on camera.

“My perspective is what ends up happening, is that couples when they watch each other and end up reflecting. And they actually see what their real relationship is like. They believe and they go to bed with a perception of their own relationship that is different. Once they watch it, they are confronted, and then they reflect. And they see it from a different point of view,” said Umansky on the podcast episode.

He said he thinks, “Once you become conscious of that, it now becomes part of the reality.”

Umansky also clarified that this is not why he and Richards separated.

“I can tell you that my perspective is not what happened between Kyle and I. I actually think we had an amazing — and we survived this thing,” said Umansky.

Kyle Richards Spoke About Her & Her Estranged Husband’s Split

Richards spoke about her and Umansky’s separation in an October 2024 interview with Us Weekly. She said she is unsure “what the future holds right now with Mauricio and [her].”

“We love each other. So that part is easy. What’s not easy is figuring out what’s next. We’re not divorced; he doesn’t live here, but we’re still figuring things out,” said Richards to the publication.

She also shared that fans will see her interact with Umansky after he left their Encino home to live in his own place during RHOBH season 14.

“Shooting scenes after he moved out was very difficult. We were catching up in front of the cameras, so emotions were raw. He would check on me, and I was just a mess sometimes,” said Richards to Us Weekly.

Kyle Richards Gave an Update on Where She Stands With Mauricio Umansky

Richards gave an update on where she stands with Umansky during a December 2024 interview on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.” She said that she and Umansky text “every couple days” and speak to each other “maybe a couple times a week.”

In addition, she shared she has not yet visited Umansky’s apartment. She clarified that she “would love to see it” but has been unable to because of her and Umansky’s busy schedules.
