Jeff Lewis Shares the Best Advice Andy Cohen Gave Him

Former “Flipping Out” star Jeff Lewis shared what he believes is the best advice that Bravo producer Andy Cohen gave him.

During the November 26 episode of Nick Viall’s podcast, “The Viall Files,” Lewis said he does not allow negative comments to affect him. He explained that while the first season of “Flipping Out” was airing in 2007, he received criticism from Bravo viewers. According to Lewis, Cohen told him to ignore feedback from fans.

“It’s the best advice Andy Cohen gave me, it was within the first two weeks of ‘Flipping Out’ airing and people misunderstood me or they probably understood me and it was a lot of negative. And Andy’s like, ‘Stop. Stop reading. Don’t believe the good. Don’t believe the bad,’” said Lewis during the interview.

Lewis also said that he has chosen to “live in a bubble” and not to allow negativity “ruin [his] day” or his “life.” He clarified that he “can also own what [he does].”

“Sometimes people are wrong. But sometimes, I might get a negative comment and I’m like, ‘Well. Yeah. Might be right,’” said Lewis with a laugh.

Jeff Lewis Said He Is Not Interested in Being Famous

While recording the “Viall Files” episode, Lewis said that he is not interested in being famous. He explained he has decided to film reality television shows to acquire more wealth.

“Most of us are hustling to make a buck. And that’s why we do this. I could give a [expletive] about fame. And actually, when ‘Flipping Out’ originally started, I remember my business partner at the time — we would have these discussions, I’m like, ‘Do you really think I want to be the frontman? I would love to be you. And come in for a few scenes here and there.’ ‘Cuz I was taking all the heat. And take 50 percent of all the earnings,” said Lewis.

Andy Cohen Told Jeff Lewis to Focus on His Other Endeavors While Filming ‘Flipping Out’

Cohen appeared on a June 2024 episode of Lewis’ podcast, “Jeff Lewis Has Issues.” Cohen said that if he were ever to leave Bravo as an executive producer and the host of “Watch What Happens Live,” he would continue his career as a SiriusXM radio producer and host.

“If the Bravo stuff goes away, at least I have the radio. We’re here and other stuff with develop on the side,” said Cohen.

Cohen then said he often advises Bravo stars to continue their careers outside the network. Lewis then interjected that Cohen told him to keep working as an interior designer when he was filming “Flipping Out,” which ended in 2018.

“I never really scaled down the design business — that’s because of you … You kept saying, ‘These docu-series last three seasons, maybe,'” said Lewis to Cohen.

Like Cohen, Lewis has established a career on SiriusXM. Reality Tea reported that Lewis has continued his SiriusXM contract. In an October 2024 statement, Lewis said he was grateful to keep hosting his radio show, “Jeff Lewis Live,” which is on Cohen’s SiriusXM’s Radio Andy channel, for even more hours a week.

“SiriusXM has given me the freedom to build a show that is unfiltered, unapologetic, and morally corrupt. I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow my show and my cult…I mean, listeners,” said Lewis.
