Viewers were first introduced to the Australian skipper on “Below Deck Adventure,” and now he’s commanding the motor yacht St. David alongside returning crew Fraser Olender and Ben Willoughby.

Captain Kerry Titheradge Reflects on Divorce and Family

In the February 5, 2024, Season 11 premiere, Kerry opened up about the deeply personal topic of his divorce. “I was married, and then that ended. It wasn’t good,” he shared with his crewmates while eating in the crew mess. “I was running a 300-foot yacht. Gave it all up for my kids.”

As Kerry explained, the split marked a major career pivot. “I went from being a captain of a multi-million dollar yacht to painting houses,” he said in a confessional interview. “I went and did a job that I could focus on myself — put my earbuds in, listen to self-help work. I was there for my kids every day and I could get myself better.”

Kerry, who shares a son and daughter with his ex-wife, emphasized the importance of emotional presence. “I was taught, you know, the mom’s there to be the emotional support, [and] the dad’s there to be the money and the disciplinarian,” he told The Daily Dish. “And when that happened, it gave me the opportunity to be there for them emotionally as well.”

A New Chapter: Love With Ghönül Bihan

Following his divorce, Kerry embarked on a new relationship with girlfriend Ghönül Bihan. The two have been together for over a year, and Kerry frequently posts snapshots of their relationship on Instagram.

He playfully told “The Daily Dish,” “I think her hearing’s getting worse and her eyesight’s getting bad. Because she still thinks I’m beautiful, and she wants to be with [me].”

Fans also spotted Ghönül supporting Kerry in the audience during his appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” after the Season 11 premiere. When host Andy Cohen asked if any “Real Housewives” stars had caught his attention at BravoCon 2023, Kerry laughed and answered, “Being [that] my love of my life is in the audience, it’s very hard to answer that question.”

Kerry’s relationship with Ghönül has a history that predates their romance. Further opening up about the relationship during an episode of “Below Deck Adventure” the captain revealed that she previously worked as a chief stew under Kerry.

“I’ve been dating my girlfriend, Gönül for a little over a year,” he explained. “She’s from Turkey. We worked together quite a few years ago. She was the chief stew. She actually quit after a few months because she didn’t like the way I ran a boat.”

Clearly, the couple’s story didn’t end there. “A few years later, after I got divorced, we reconnected,” he continued. “Eventually, she opened up. She’s helped me become a better person. And that’s pretty special.”
